About the Role

Plus Power is looking to hire a Manager of Trading Operations to support the day-to-day execution, compliance, and operational management of our trading activities across North American power markets, with a focus on energy storage assets. This role emphasizes discipline in reporting, regulatory alignment, cross-team coordination, and the continuous improvement of trading processes and tools. 

This role will serve as a key liaison across trading, operations, legal, compliance, and technology teams, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration. In addition, the role will play a critical part in documenting methodologies, maintaining governance standards, conducting market research, and supporting knowledge transfer within the organization. The ideal candidate combines energy market knowledge with strong operational rigor to ensure that the trading desk runs with efficiency, transparency, and accountability 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Define the product vision and roadmap for our BESS deployments, energy trading platform and other internally developed software products. 
  • Define and prioritize product features that enhance the efficiency, profitability, and risk management of our BESS operations across multiple markets. 
  • Work closely with Engineering, Data Science, Trading, Asset Management, Market Analysis, and operations teams to understand user needs and translate them into actionable product requirements and lead technical teams to build tools to meet these requirements. 
  • Develop and manage product backlogs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market opportunities. 
  • Collaborate with external vendors to integrate new technologies and solutions into our platform. 
  • Conduct continuous market research and competitive analysis to identify procurement opportunities, product differentiation and market expansion. 
  • Own the product launch process, including strategy, user adoption, and training. 
  • Monitor product performance and customer satisfaction, gathering feedback to inform product enhancements and future developments. 
  • Stay abreast of compliance and regulatory changes and technological advancements in the energy storage and trading landscape. 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation. 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in product or project management, preferably within the energy or related technology sector. 
  • Experience working with energy trading platforms and familiarity with relevant software tools preferred. 
  • Experience with transmission connected power project controls and software is a plus. 
  • Proven track record of leading the development and launch of successful software products. 
  • Deep understanding of the energy storage market, including BESS technology, energy trading fundamentals, and market dynamics in several North American ISOs with a preference for ERCOT 
  • Experience working with agile methodologies and a strong understanding of user-centered design principles. 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise language for both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members who are geographically dispersed. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making. 
  • Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and inspire a product management team. 
  • Relevant experience in programming and data management: working knowledge of SQL is required. Experience in UI design and Python programming language is a plus.  
  • Experience with visualization and business intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, etc. preferred. 
  • Understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in the energy domain is a plus. 
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently course-correct and adjust strategy and tactics to achieve commercialization objectives. 
  • Experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. 
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products – Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point 

 

Compensation, Location, and Benefits

Highly competitive total compensation from one of North America’s leading energy storage developers, owners and operators. Flexible, work from home or hybrid work from Plus Power’s offices in San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Seattle, and Palm Beach. 

The expected salary range* for this position begins at $165,000. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, geographic labor market, and other factors consistent with applicable law. This position is also eligible to participate in our annual bonus program.
