Forward Deployed Engineering Principal

Dallas, TX

We are PMG

Named Ad Age Best Places to Work for 11 years in a row and Fast Company Best Workplaces for Innovators since 2022, PMG is a global independent marketing services and technology company that seeks to inspire people and brands that anything is possible. Driven by shared success, PMG leverages business strategy and transformation, creative, media, and insights—as well as its proprietary operating system, Alli—to deliver cutting-edge digital solutions and innovative media strategies.

Our team comprises over 900 employees globally, and our work for ambitious brands like Apple, Nike, Sephora, Experian, Therabody, Best Western Hotels & Resorts, Creed Fragrances, BNY, Intuit, CKE Restaurants, Travelex, and Whole Foods spans 85+ countries.

Who You Will Be Working With

You’ll be part of PMG’s Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team of senior, customer-facing engineers that operate at the intersection of business problems, technology, and platform innovation.

FDE partners deeply with priority customers, Vertical leaders, Client Strategy, Analytics, Product, and Engineering to solve complex, high-impact challenges that don’t fit standard playbooks. The team builds custom technical solutions, within the PMG Operating System (Alli), sometimes integrating with Alli from a sandbox environment, and sometimes outside the platform entirely.  Remaining focused on driving meaningful business outcomes and shaping what becomes scalable over time.

This is a small, senior group designed for depth over breadth, operating where clarity is earned through execution, not documentation.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Forward Deployed Engineering Principal, you will operate as a senior individual contributor with enterprise-level influence. Your work will center on solving real customer business problems through technology, not maintaining or extending a predefined product roadmap.

  • Partner deeply with priority customers and PMG leadership to understand material business challenges, constraints, and opportunities.
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical approaches and working solutions.
  • Design and deliver custom technical solutions across data, measurement, workflows, mobile, and platform integrations.
  • Operate hands-on in solution design and build, using modern tools, AI-assisted coding, and best practices to move quickly without sacrificing quality.
  • Advise customers and internal teams on feasibility, tradeoffs, and technical direction.
  • Identify patterns, learnings, and approaches that can inform reusable accelerators or future platform capabilities.
  • Influence product and platform evolution by feeding validated insights back into PMG’s broader technology ecosystem.
  • Support high-impact moments such as strategic pitches, QBRs, and new business efforts where technical clarity materially changes the outcome.
  • Use AI, automation, and technology to elevate the quality and efficiency of work, streamline processes, and enable faster, more informed decision-making in your role.

What You’ll Bring

We’re not looking for a traditional software engineer profile. We’re looking for someone who is technically fluent, business-curious, and comfortable building in ambiguity.

You’ll be successful in this role if you bring:

  • Strong technical literacy and the ability to design, evaluate, and build solutions without needing to be the deepest specialist in any single language or framework.
  • Experience solving real business problems with technology, not just implementing predefined requirements.
  • Comfort working across systems, data flows, APIs, and platforms, including modern cloud and measurement environments.
  • 8+ year experience in customer-facing or consultative technical roles (e.g., forward deployed engineering, solutions architecture, technical consulting, sales engineering, or similar).
  • The ability to reason about tradeoffs, feasibility, and risk when the “right answer” isn’t obvious.
  • A bias toward execution: you’re comfortable moving from problem to prototype to production quickly.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted and agentic coding tools, and the judgment to use them effectively within standards and best practices.
  • Strong communication skills, especially the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A track record of influencing decisions without direct authority.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and comfort operating where the path to value isn’t fully defined upfront.
  • An understanding that reuse, scale, and platform contribution are earned through impact—not assumed at the start.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
