Be the foundation of HR operations in Europe

As Poka’s first Europe-based HR Business Partner, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how we support our growing European workforce. Based in Germany, you’ll be our local expert on employment law, HR operations, and compliant, people-first practices - owning German & European HR end-to-end.

This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role for someone who enjoys building structure, navigating change, and being a trusted partner to both employees and managers in our fast-growing, global environment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own all European HR operations, including contracts, amendments, probations, terminations, and employee documentation
  • Act as the go-to expert on German employment law, advising managers and employees with confidence and clarity
  • Support managers on employee relations, performance topics, and day-to-day people decisions
  • Manage relationships with our Employer of Record partner in countries where Poka doesn’t have a local entity
  • Ensure HR processes are compliant, documented, scalable, and consistently followed
  • Identify compliance risks and process gaps, and proactively improve how we operate
  • Collaborate closely with our global People & Culture team on onboarding, offboarding, policies, payroll, and benefits
  • Balance local requirements with global alignment as we continue to grow across Europe

What you bring

  • Proven experience running HR administration in Germany, with strong knowledge of employment law and labor regulations
  • Exposure to HR operations across multiple European countries
  • Comfortable working independently and remotely, while collaborating closely with a global team (HR leadership based in Canada, EST)
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and trusted with sensitive information
  • Confident communicator who builds credibility with managers and employees alike
  • Fluent in German and English (additional European languages are a plus)
  • Experience in a fast-growing, international, or remote-first environment is a strong asset
