Pomelo Care is a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, engineers and problem solvers who are passionate about improving care for moms and babies. We are transforming outcomes for pregnant people and babies with evidence-based pregnancy and newborn care at scale. Our technology-driven care platform enables us to engage patients early, conduct individualized risk assessments for poor pregnancy outcomes, and deliver coordinated, personalized virtual care throughout pregnancy, NICU stays, and the first postpartum year. We measure ourselves by reductions in preterm births, NICU admissions, c-sections and maternal mortality; we improve outcomes and reduce healthcare spend.
Pomelo recently acquired The Doula Network, a large national network of credentialed, community-based doulas, to enable a hybrid model of maternity care. We are seeking a strategic self-starter to help scale and operate Pomelo’s doula business.
Role Description
Your North Star: You will build, optimize, and scale a best-in-class doula offering that delivers exceptional doula support to our members and outcomes for our members and partners.
In this role you will:
- Own the forecast for the doula services business, track performance against plan, and recommend strategic & operational improvements to optimize the P&L.
- Manage a small team of doula operations and support professionals, managing the outcomes of their work and supporting their growth and development.
- Work with the General Manager to set the strategic priorities, objectives, and key results for Pomelo’s doula line of business.
- Rigorously review and report out on key performance metrics to direct operational focus and drive accountability against monthly and quarterly priorities.
- Collaborate with Partnerships team to assess and price deals for strategic and economic value.
- Partner with Customer Success team to project manage new health plan launches, ensuring that all operational steps are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Streamline doula operations processes to reduce manual work and improve team efficiency.
- Collaborate with team members from Revenue Cycle Management and Accounting to ensure that doulas are paid accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review trends in doula issues and partner issues to inform where to improve operations and communications to better support doulas and health plan partners.
Who you are
- 5-7+ years of experience in operational roles at high-growth companies, with some background in consulting, finance, business operations. Healthcare/health tech experience preferred but not required
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in forecasting, financial modeling, and data analysis to derive insights and drive decision making
- Strong operational mindset with a track record of designing, implementing, and scaling processes from scratch and reviewing metrics to understand operations performance
- Experience managing a team to deliver exceptional results, with a passion for supporting team members’ development and growth
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives, present data-driven insights clearly, and communicate with both executive leadership and frontline teams
- Excellent problem-solver who is comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving towards solutions
- Strong cross-functional business partner with a high degree of accountability. You follow through on the commitments and timelines that you share with other teams
Bonus points if you have any of the following
- Familiarity with the maternal health landscape
- Experience supporting a contractor workforce in the healthcare space
- Experience supporting operations for in-person care delivery

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company’s size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, benefits, and other opportunities at Pomelo Care. In accordance with New York City, Colorado, California, and other applicable laws, Pomelo Care is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $130,000 - $140,000. We expect most candidates to fall in the middle of the range. We also believe that your personal needs and preferences should be taken into consideration, so we allow some choice between equity and cash.
