About the Job
As an Intern at Porter Novelli, you’ll gain firsthand experience in the day-to-day workings of a leading, award-winning global communications company to jumpstart your career in the industry. You’ll have opportunities to drive meaningful impact for our consumer, technology, healthcare and food clients and gain valuable experience on the design and development of such Canadian programs. You’ll be mentored by experienced team members to develop your creative and analytical ideas, skills to master the latest marketing technologies, and knowledge of select industry sectors.
This is a paid position and is ideal for someone who is curious, eager to learn, takes initiative, and wants to build a career in marketing communications. We're looking for someone who loves storytelling, thrives in a team environment, and is excited by media, influencers, social trends, and creative problem-solving.
Expect to Gain the Following Experience as a Porter Novelli Intern
- Learn how a leading global communications firm operates through training on tools, systems, and team processes.
- Support account administration by drafting meeting recaps, managing purchase orders, and providing timely updates to project managers.
- Work with supervisors to receive and implement feedback.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions.
- Support and staff client events as needed, including on-site coordination.
- Build a foundational understanding of media and influencer relations by developing draft media and influencer materials that may include pitch letters, media lists, influencer recommendations for both paid and earned campaigns, tracking media feedback and coverage reporting.
- Help manage the influencer engagement process, including tasks such as the creation of gifted mailers and the influencer seeding approach, ensuring all activities are executed to secure earned social coverage. Tasks include, but are not limited to, sourcing mailer elements, assembling mailer boxes, managing logistics, handling product shipments, and coordinating with building facilities and courier partners. Learning opportunities include influencer selection, brand safety strategies, client and influencer expectation management, to name but a few.
- Gain exposure to client industries, competitors, and cultural trends, including emerging technologies such as AI.
- Use Omnicom research tools to build monitoring reports and provide relevant insights for client deliverables.
- Conduct thoughtful research and monitor consumer trends and industry reports.
- Accurate daily time tracking using internal timesheet systems
- Monitoring assigned hours and proactively providing progress updates to managers.
- Complete mandatory Porter Novelli and Omnicom training in compliance with all company policies.

About You
- Recent post-secondary graduate with a demonstrated focus in public relations, communications and/or marketing experience in a marketing communications role working in an agency environment.
- Passion for delivering high-quality work with strong attention to detail, excellent task management skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while problem-solving.
- Desire to work in an inclusive work environment and participate in DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) initiatives.
- Ability and willingness to work in our downtown Toronto office a minimum of three (3) days per week.

The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $25.00 CAD per hour. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
