The Opportunity
The Senior Manager, Tax will be Postman’s leader and subject matter expert for all tax matters. You will serve as the company’s trusted advisor regarding tax filings, strategies, considerations for new products and services, and risk and compliance. You will perform tax research, work with outside tax advisors, and oversee a broad range of tax matters, including compliance and special project work. This role will report to the Controller and will work closely with cross-functional teams such as HR, Legal, Sales, and Engineering. We are looking for a team member who has experience working in a high-growth organization and thrives on making an impact on the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the completion of quarterly and annual tax provision, and manage federal, international, state, local and informational tax filings.
- Manage tax projects such as R&D tax credit, §174, and §382 analyses.
- Manage U.S. international tax compliance including GILTI, BEAT, FDII, and other key international taxes.
- Lead transfer pricing planning and compliance and local country reporting.
- Collaborate with teams across the business in evaluating sales, use, VAT or other tax considerations for new/existing products and jurisdictions. Serve as the key advisor on tax considerations for entering in new jurisdictions and new products and services.
- Manage external tax advisors' timely preparation of global income tax provision and U.S. tax compliance, ensuring completeness and accuracy of deliverables.
- Develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies, including international tax structuring, M&A considerations, and optimization with regard to federal, state, and indirect taxes.
- Prepare forecasted income taxes and cash tax payment analysis.
- Manage income tax audits and respond to notices from tax authorities.
- Assist and lead special projects including purchase accounting, monitor evolving legislation, calculation and disclosure requirements.
- Drive tax process and system improvements, with a goal toward automation and efficiency, including the design and implementation of key systems, internal controls, global close efficiency, audit readiness, and management reporting.
- Assist with the preparation and implementation of accounting policies and control flowcharts as well as maintaining and monitoring corporate accounting policies and procedures.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, MS in Tax or a CPA preferred.
- 8+ years of income tax compliance and financial reporting experience with a public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department.
- Technical knowledge of U.S. income tax matters, ASC 740 - Income Taxes and SEC disclosure standards, U.S. federal and state tax compliance, sales and indirect tax, and relevant industry experience.
- Experience managing a positive relationship with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem identification and remediation solutions.
- Must be able to think critically and recognize discrepancies through analysis.
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and drive efficiency.
- Ability to prioritize and work proactively and independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Eager to get engaged on a variety of operational accounting activities and willing to directly take on administrative type projects.
The reasonably estimated base salary for this role ranges from $165,000 to $225,000, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
