Purpose: Postman Law is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Lien Negotiator to join our growing team. In this role, you will take ownership of the medical lien resolution process—working strategically and independently to negotiate, reduce, and resolve liens so our personal injury clients receive the maximum possible net recovery.

You will collaborate closely with attorneys, case managers, operations, and accounting while serving as the primary point of contact with medical providers, insurers, and lienholders. This role is critical to ensuring personal injury settlements close efficiently, compliantly, and without unnecessary delays.

This position is ideal for a seasoned lien negotiator who understands both the legal and practical realities of lien resolution in personal injury cases and thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

This is a full-time position based in our Lake Mary, Florida, office and working a hybrid schedule of three days per week in the office and two days per week remote.  The position will be paid hourly at a rate of $27.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience, plus the role is eligible for a year-end discretionary performance bonus and benefits. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the lien resolution process from case opening through settlement disbursement, including lien identification, negotiation, reduction, and final payoff
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for lienholders on assigned personal injury cases
  • Independently negotiate and resolve medical liens with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and lien administrators
  • Handle a wide range of lien types, including Medicare (MSPRP/NGHP), Medicaid, ERISA/self-funded plans, hospital liens, letters of protection (LOPs), provider balances and private health insurers
  • Review and analyze medical billing records, lien notices, and settlement documents to identify discrepancies, errors, and leverage points for negotiation
  • Identify opportunities for pre-settlement lien resolution or reduction when appropriate to support timely settlements
  • Finalize lien amounts and payoff figures post-settlement, coordinating with attorneys and accounting to ensure accurate and timely disbursement
  • Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to align lien negotiation strategy with case value, settlement posture, damages, and procurement costs
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and audit-ready records of all lien activity and communications in the firm’s case management system
  • Ensure lien resolutions comply with applicable federal and state laws, including Medicare Secondary Payer requirements and statutory lien regulations
  • Proactively mitigate lien-related risk exposure to clients and the firm through thorough documentation and compliance-focused practices

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Personal Injury Medical Lien Negotiator in a plaintiff-side law firm
  • Strong working knowledge of medical billing, lien law, and negotiation strategies – experience with liens in multiple states is highly preferable
  • Demonstrated experience handling statutory and contractual liens, including Medicare, Medicaid, and ERISA
  • Ability to independently manage lien files from start to finish with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including direct negotiation with providers and insurers
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a legal team
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required
