Director of Messaging Strategy, Operations & Compliance

Remote, Anywhere in US

Trusted by more than 18,000 Shopify and Shopify Plus stores—like Brooklinen, Ruggable, True Classic and Dr. Squatch—Postscript gives ecommerce brands the tools they need to run a world-class SMS marketing program.

We’re on a mission to make SMS the number-one revenue channel for ecommerce merchants by delivering an easy-to-use platform where they can grow their subscriber list, develop and test their messaging strategy, deliver excellent customer service, and drive sales and loyalty—all in one place. We believe SMS is the most important marketing and sales channel of the decade, and that vision drives everything we do.

Postscript was founded in 2018 as a 100% remote organization. With more than 250 employees (and counting!), we’re backed by Greylock, Y Combinator, and other top investors.

Role Overview

As Director of Messaging Strategy, Operations & Compliance, you’ll lead the teams responsible for ensuring the strategic health, regulatory integrity, and operational excellence of Postscript’s messaging platform. Reporting to the SVP of Legal & Messaging Strategy (member of the strategic leadership team), you’ll oversee two high-impact areas: (1) Messaging Operations – including phone number provisioning, channel selection (e.g. 10DLC, short code, toll-free, OTT), international routing, and partner management – and (2) Compliance Services – our customer-facing team that delivers value-add onboarding audits and operational compliance reviews.

This role will shape how Postscript sustains best-in-class message deliverability and regulatory readiness while deepening trusted relationships with carriers, compliance partners, and customers. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally across Product, Legal, Engineering, and Go-to-Market to help Postscript scale efficiently and compliantly.

This is a fully remote position based in the U.S., with occasional travel for internal planning and external meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Postscript’s overall messaging strategy across number provisioning, deliverability, channel mix, and global routing
  • Oversee the Compliance Services team’s delivery of compliance audits, onboarding reviews, and live customer compliance guidance
  • Create and oversee a customer-first, value-add and integrated customer experience with Compliance Services and work closely with the go-to-market team
  • Own the team that manages number lifecycle operations and relationships with CPaaS vendors, aggregators, and major carriers
  • Build and manage strategic plans for emerging channels (e.g., OTT messaging) and cross-border messaging needs
  • Develop compliance playbooks and standard operating procedures in collaboration with Legal and Product
  • Champion deliverability as a product pillar: advocate for infrastructure and roadmap decisions that improve throughput, message reach, and carrier trust
  • Serve as a primary external representative for messaging strategy and compliance — including in carrier relationships and industry groups
  • Define and monitor KPIs across deliverability, provisioning turnaround, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction
  • Inspire, lead, and grow a high-performing team (~10 direct and indirect reports across Messaging Ops, Compliance Services, and internal tooling)

What We’ll Love About You

  • 7+ years of experience in messaging, compliance, or platform operations within SaaS or telecom (CPaaS experience and/or work in a regulated SaaS is a plus, not a requirement)
  • Demonstrated success in building or leading operational and/or compliance teams with a cross-functional remit
  • Strong organizational skills with an outcome oriented approach
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to zoom in and out — from tactical problem-solving to long-range planning
  • Understanding of messaging infrastructure, regulatory standards (e.g., TCPA, CTIA), and deliverability fundamentals
  • Deeply customer-empathetic: passionate about operationalizing compliance as a value driver, not just a guardrail
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills — able to collaborate and influence at all levels internally and externally
  • Experience working with cross-functional partners such as Legal, Engineering, GTM and Product
  • Familiarity with international carrier requirements and/or alternative messaging channels is a plus

What You’ll Love About Us

  • Compensation: Salary range of USD $180,000–$230,000 base + bonus + equity (we do not have geo-based salaries)
  • Growth: Help shape a core strategic pillar at a high-growth startup — with visibility across Product, Legal, Operations and GTM
  • Impact: Your work will directly influence the reliability, reputation, and scalability of Postscript’s core messaging engine
  • Flexibility: Fully remote with regular company offsites and quarterly team gatherings
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision insurance (100% of employee premium covered); flexible PTO; 5-year exercise window on equity

Join us at Postscript to lead the future of compliant, customer-centric SMS messaging. If you’re excited about driving messaging excellence at scale and ensuring our customers communicate effectively and responsibly — we want to hear from you!

You are welcome here. Postscript is an ever-evolving place of equal employment for talented individuals.

Postscript Demographic Questions and Categorizations

At Postscript, we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace that values diversity. We firmly believe that companies diverse in, for example, age, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and perspective are better because of it. However, even beyond that belief, we simply want to strive for what's right.

For this reason, we are asking candidates to voluntarily self-identify through a few demographic questions. Our purpose in collecting this information is to help us assess our outreach efforts and diversity representation goals. Your responses will not be linked to your identity or your application, and neither recruiters nor hiring managers can see this information at an individual level. Your responses are stored in the aggregate and will not play any role in our hiring decision.  Your decision to participate or not participate in this survey will have no impact on your candidacy at Postscript.

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
