Position Overview
The Accounting Manager is a core delivery role within PP&Co's Client Accounting Services practice. This individual is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations for an assigned portfolio of clients across a range of industries. The Accounting Manager ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, maintains strong client relationships, and collaborates closely with the Team Lead and Accounting Advisors to deliver consistent, high-quality service.
Responsibilities:
Client Accounting & Reporting
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for an assigned client portfolio, managing all aspects of bookkeeping and financial reporting.
- Oversee and perform month-end close procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and deliver accurate financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) on a monthly, quarterly, and/or annual basis per client engagement terms.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all transactions in QuickBooks Online.
- Coordinate with offshore bookkeeping, AR, AP, and payroll teams to ensure timely processing and accuracy of transactional data.
Client Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with assigned clients, acting as a reliable and knowledgeable point of contact.
- Communicate proactively with clients regarding financial results, open items, and deadlines.
- Identify and escalate complex client issues or advisory opportunities to the Team Lead or Accounting Advisor as appropriate.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with the Team Lead to ensure client deliverables meet firm quality standards and are completed on schedule.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and offshore team members as needed.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes, workflows, and documentation standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a public accounting or outsourced accounting services environment.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) required; experience with QBO Advanced or multiple QBO entities is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously.
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
The annual base salary range for this role is $105,000–$125,000, based on market data for the San Jose, CA area. This range reflects the anticipated low and high end of the salary band for this position. Actual compensation may vary depending on factors such as location, experience, education, and skill level.
