Position Overview: 

We are seeking a talented and driven Tax Supervising Senior to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will build and nurture lasting client relationships while managing tax engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients, including privately held businesses, business owners, families, and high-net-worth individuals. As a Supervising Senior, you will play a critical role in managing complex tax engagements, reviewing work prepared by junior team members, and serving as a liaison between clients and management. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong technical expertise in tax compliance and planning. Tax Preparation  

  • Prepare and review federal and state business tax returns including LLCs, partnerships, C corporations, and gift and estate tax filings, serving as a primary reviewer to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with applicable tax laws and filing requirements. 
  • Review financial statements, oversee the preparation of tax accounting schedules for clients, and reconcile book-to-tax differences, resolving discrepancies ahead of manager and partner review. 
  • Lead comprehensive research on tax issues, tax planning strategies, and effective tax rate optimization, documenting conclusions and recommendations for leadership. 
  • Take an active role in researching client issues and responding to IRS audits and notices alongside managers and partners, ensuring compliance with domestic and international tax laws. 
  • Oversee client documentation, working papers, and supporting schedules, ensuring files prepared by the team are accurate, complete, and compliant with firm and regulatory standards. 

 

Consulting Services  

  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, drafting proposals and engagement letters and overseeing engagement budgeting, staffing, and billing; build strong client relationships and deliver exceptional service. 
  • Perform tax research and partner with managers and partners to develop tax planning strategies for business transactions and restructurings, clearly explaining complex tax matters to clients and internal stakeholders. 
  • Participate in in-house CPE classes and specialized tax training provided by the firm to stay current on the latest developments in tax regulations and apply new guidance to client planning opportunities. 

 

Administrative & Leadership Duties  

  • Supervise, train, and review the work of junior tax staff and interns, delegating assignments, managing workflow across engagements, and providing coaching, technical guidance, and ongoing professional development. 
  • Participate in firm-sponsored CPE and specialized tax training (e.g., international tax) to deepen technical expertise, stay current with evolving tax laws and regulations, and share key updates with the team. 
  • Serve as a technical resource for the team, help resolve complex tax issues, and promote consistent application of tax guidance and quality standards across client engagements. 
  • Embrace AI and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and quality in tax workflows, and help the team adopt these tools by sharing best practices and encouraging innovative ways of working. 
  • Collaborate with and review the work of global delivery team members, providing clear instructions, timely feedback, and quality oversight to ensure seamless, high-quality client service across time zones. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required; master's in taxation preferred. 
  • CPA license or active CPA candidacy preferred. 
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in tax accounting. 
  • Strong technical skills in tax compliance and planning. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • High-level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), CCH, and QuickBooks Online. 

The annual base salary range for this role is $120,000-$135,000. This range includes the anticipated low and high end the salary range for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on various factors, including experience, education and/or skill level.
