About the Youth Program in East Africa
Pratham International works across East Africa to strengthen pathways from skills training to employment for young people. The program collaborates with vocational training institutions, local governments, and industry partners to improve training quality, integrate essential workplace skills, and support youth transitions into employment and livelihood opportunities.
As the program operates across multiple counties and institutions, it requires robust monitoring systems to track youth participation, skill development, and employment outcomes. Strong data systems and evidence generation are central to understanding program effectiveness and informing continuous program improvement.
About the Role
We are seeking a Monitoring, Measurement & Data Associate to serve as the technical architect of our impact-tracking systems. This role is fundamental to ensuring that our youth skilling and employment programs are backed by rigorous evidence and high-integrity data structures while being true to the principles of frugal data collection.
The Associate will be responsible for designing comprehensive monitoring frameworks and optimizing datasets to extract actionable insights that directly inform program strategy. This position acts as a bridge between raw data and strategic decision-making, ensuring that every metric captured is leveraged to enhance program outcomes and organizational scale.
The Associate will collaborate closely with program teams in a hands-on capacity that requires a strong affinity for numbers, systems, and structured problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and operationalize results frameworks, logframes, and indicator tracking systems.
- Define measurable KPIs across enrollment, completion, skill acquisition, and employment outcomes.
- Support the design and implementation of impact evaluations, including randomized controlled trials (RCTs), A/B testing and quasi-experimental studies, where applicable.
- Design standardized data collection tools and reporting protocols.
- Lead data cleaning, validation, and consistency checks to ensure high data integrity.
- Conduct quantitative analysis using advanced Excel (pivot tables, dashboards, cohort tracking).
- Translate data into clear, actionable insights for program teams and leadership.
- Produce structured monthly and quarterly performance reports.
- Support donor reporting through accurate data synthesis and evidence documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in statistics, economics, data science, public policy, or related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in data analytics, monitoring & evaluation, or performance measurement.
- Advanced Excel proficiency (mandatory); experience with data visualization tools preferred.
- Experience working with survey tools
- Strong quantitative reasoning and attention to data integrity.
- Willingness and ability to travel in Kenya and other program geographies as required.
