Job Application for Referral Coordinator, Canby/Oregon City at Praxis Health

Pacific Medical Group, part of Praxis Health, is seeking a Referral Coordinator to join our team at our Canby or Oregon City locations. Must be professional, detail oriented and have extensive customer service experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in a medical office setting and a background in insurance authorization and scheduling.

Duties of this position will include obtaining prior authorizations for services that are not customary plan benefits, calling on referrals, scheduling and interacting with patients, Primary Care Physicians and/or Referring Physicians, data entry, patient file and records maintenance, etc.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Compensation: Starting at $19/hour

Essential Job Functions

Obtains prior authorizations and referrals.
Inputs correct data into Intergy.
Performs clerical duties related to clinical service.
Prepares and processes correspondence.
Answers telephone, takes messages, and provides information.
Requests, locates, sends and receives patient records.
Monitors internal communications including but not limited to task, emails, and voice
mails.
Maintains files and assists establishing office systems.
Assists in the care and maintenance of office equipment.
Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include sending/receiving patient
medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.;
scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage; managing and updating EMR
charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately.
Fulfills the organizations responsibilities as assigned including; respecting and promoting
patient’s rights; sharing problems with immediate supervisor.
Other duties as assigned.
Reliable attendance and presence at work.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Background in insurance authorization and scheduling.
Extensive customer service experience.
Minimum two years of experience in a medical office setting.

General Physical Requirements

Manual dexterity for office machine operation including computer and calculator; stooping, bending to handle files and supplies, mobility to complete errands for deliveries, or sitting for extended periods of time.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Stress can be triggered by multiple staff demands and deadlines.
Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent contact with staff and patients.

It is our company policy to provide, free of charge, the Hepatitis Vaccine Series for all employees of the company who may be exposed to blood or body fluids.
1. Employees will be counseled upon hire regarding the vaccination series.
2. Upon the signing of the proper form, the employee will begin their series at the next scheduled vaccination day after hiring.
3. The series will be administered by a nurse at a designated clinic or hospital.
4. Documentation will be kept in the employee's permanent Personnel File.
5. When necessary, the Medical Director will determine follow up protocol.
Eligibility for Hepatitis Vaccine will be decided by the employee's supervisor based on their possible exposure to blood or body fluids during job performance, such as (but not limited to): Phlebotomy, Sample handling, Testing, Courier of Specimens, Direct patient contact/care, Janitorial Services.
