Director / Sr. Director, Accounting
The Opportunity
As part of our Praxis Finance team, this role presents an opportunity to oversee the entire Accounting function. You will be responsible for monthly and quarterly close processes, internal controls compliance and SEC reporting. This position is critical to the Company’s financial and operational success. Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for consolidated financial results by overseeing monthly and quarterly financial close processes, including review of key areas of judgment and key general ledger account reconciliations (including R&D accruals) to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of the Company’s consolidated financial statements.
- Oversee the Company’s internal financial control compliance (SOX 404(b)), working to strengthen internal controls and ensure the control environment is operating effectively in a dynamic and scaling setting.
- Oversight of SEC process, including quarterly and annual reporting, proxy statement and ad-hoc filings.
- Responsible for key technical accounting judgments and policies, including oversight, implementation and execution of new accounting guidance.
- Collaborate with other G&A teams to ensure relevant information is shared timely, including FP&A, procurement, legal and others as needed.
- Build cross-company relationships with key business partners involved in accounting intensive activities to ensure processes are effective and controls are sufficient.
- Identify and implement process improvements to continue building the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting at Praxis.
- Prepare and present quarterly results presentation and key accounting updates to executive leadership and the Audit Committee
- Support a high performing Accounting team of direct and indirect reports, ensuring all team members remain motivated, challenged through learning opportunities and guided in their professional development.
Qualifications and Key Success Factors
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and an active CPA license required
- 12+ years of related accounting experience required; public and private experience preferred
- Prior employment at a biotech/pharma company required; experience with accounting at a commercial-stage company preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX principles is required
- Detail oriented self-starter with ability to think strategically and effectively prioritize while managing various projects simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with other parts of the business including key internal/external stakeholders and executive leadership
- Ability to be flexible and continuously drive processes, deliverables, and timelines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Experience working within Agile framework is helpful.

To round out this world-class total rewards package, we provide annualized base salary compensation in the range listed below. Final salary range may be modified commensurate with level, education, and experience.

$185,000 - $240,000 USD
