Head of Trade & Distribution

Location:  This position may be performed remotely with travel to the Boston area as needed.

The Opportunity

Praxis is seeking an experienced individual as Head of Trade and Distribution to build Praxis’ capabilities and relationships to deliver products to market in an efficient and effective manner.  This leadership role is critical in establishing both the value and access strategy and the operational readiness for successful product launches in common and rare indications.  We are looking for an experienced leader with a proven track record in product launch, supply chain planning and operations, vendor management, and inventory tracking and traceability.  Initially focused on the US market, this role will expand to key international markets as the Praxis portfolio expands globally.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leadership. As a member of the commercial leadership team, the Head of Trade and Distribution will play a critical role in setting the vision, building the team, talent base, and capabilities of the commercial organization.
  • Supply chain strategy. Oversee the development and implementation of end-to-end commercial supply chain strategy from manufacturing to logistics to distribution and delivery to patients for Praxis products.
  • Compliance and quality assurance. Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards across all stages of the commercial supply chain; collaborate with Quality Assurance team to maintain product integrity and safety throughout the supply chain.
  • Cross functional collaboration. Partner with internal teams on planning activities to ensure product availability.
  • Team development. Recruit, develop, and retain a team of highly skilled supply chain professionals responsible for collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Vendor and partner management. Establish and maintain strategic relationships with external partners (3PL, distributors, etc.).
  • Risk management. Identify potential risks to the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies to ensure continuity.
  • Channel management. Management of channel strategies to support all products including inventory management and channel partner performance metrics.
  • Technology and innovation. Utilize supply chain technologies and systems to enhance visibility, efficiency, and decision making; drive innovation to optimize and improve performance.


Qualifications and Key Success Factors:

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree; preferably in supply chain management, operations or related business area
  • 10+ years of experience within biotech/pharmaceutical supply chain management, including product launches  
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams; strong ability to engage and motivate people and have the managerial courage to make and stand by difficult decisions
  • Innovative and disruptive mindset
  • Ability to see the big picture and bring a strong attention to detail while adept at both strategic planning and operations.
  • Demonstrates a high level of intellectual curiosity, innovation and creative problem solving with an entrepreneurial spirit; can thrive in an Agile environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to develop important relationships that build trust and encourage diversity in all its forms
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with a passion to deliver quality results
  • The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Work is performed in a remote, work from home environment. The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. Movement through sites and labs may occasionally be required as employee may need to visit these environments. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Visual acuity is required to read and produce accurate materials. Use of keyboards and cellular devices.

To round out this world-class total rewards package, we provide annualized base salary compensation in the range listed below.  Final salary range may be modified commensurate with job level, education, and experience.
