Senior Accountant
Location: This position may be performed remotely with travel to the Boston area as needed.
The Opportunity
This role is an exciting opportunity to join Praxis’ finance team within the accounting group. As our Senior Accountant, you will be an integral member of finance. Responsibilities include monthly closing activities, such as recording journal entries, preparing account reconciliations, preparing rollforwards and performing detailed account analyses and preparation of the semimonthly payroll. The role will also provide assistance with quarterly reviews and annual audits by external auditors, assistance with SOX/documentation of internal controls and SEC reporting. This position requires the ability to work in a collaborative manner with the finance team, other members of the business and key external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, resourceful, have strong communication skills and have the ability to work both in a team and independently at a fast-growing biopharmaceutical company.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead monthly close process for key business areas, including, but not limited to, cash, investments and G&A accruals.
- Prepare semimonthly payroll.
- Assist in the overall month-end close process.
- Assist with quarterly reviews and annual audits by external auditors.
- Assist with SOX, including documentation of controls and execution of responsibilities to ensure the control environment is operating effectively.
- Assist with SEC reporting, including populating 10-Q, 10-Ks and 8-Ks.
- Ad hoc projects, as necessary.
- Operate within a Finance function that is team oriented and a partner to the business.
Qualifications and Key Success Factors
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
- 3+ years of experience in accounting
- Prior employment in biotechnology industry preferred.
- Knowledge of US GAAP, SOX 404 and SEC reporting standards.
- Detail oriented, ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon time frames through effective prioritization of duties.
- Excellent communications skills; ability to work collaboratively with the finance team, other parts of the business and with key external stakeholders.
- Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Visual acuity is required to read and produce accurate materials. Use of keyboards and cellular devices.

To round out this world-class total rewards package, we provide annualized base salary compensation in the range listed below. Final salary range may be modified commensurate with job level, education, and experience.

$90,000 - $115,000 USD
