Intern, Nonclinical Safety
Location: This position may be performed remotely with travel to the Boston area as needed.
The Opportunity
The Non-Clinical team at Praxis is currently seeking an Intern for a 10-12 week Summer Internship from approximately May 2025 to August 2025. This internship offers a valuable opportunity for individuals to gain a practical introduction to Non-Clinical safety, pharmacokinetic and drug metabolism studies while also getting exposure to clinical drug development and the pharmaceutical industry. The program is designed to provide current undergraduate students with the chance to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world work situations, serving as a developmental assignment for those pursuing a relevant major or focus in their studies. Joining the Summer Internship Program will enable participants to enhance their skills, expand their industry understanding, and contribute to the overall goals of the Quality team at Praxis.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review, organize and assign metadata to reports for in-vitro Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics studies
- Create and implement a dashboard/spreadsheet to monitor the status of in-vitro DMPK studies
- Will take ownership over assigned projects and provide regular updates to the team on the status
- Assist in other continuous improvement projects related to all areas of Non-Clinical Development including Toxicology, Drug Metabolism, and Pharmacokinetics as needed
- Collaborate with different team members to gain insights into the drug development process within the pharmaceutical industry
Qualifications and Key Success Factors
- Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree granting program in the life sciences at a junior or senior level
- Excellent writing skills and strong computer skills with moderate to advanced proficiency in databases and/or spreadsheets
- Good organization, documentation, prioritization, and scheduling skills together with an ability to work independently, stay focused on assigned tasks, and an overall desire to learn
- Exposure to laboratory work preferred, specifically relating to in-vitro work in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics
- Ability to collaborate across multiple functional areas and work in a team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; Experience with Smartsheet preferred
- The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Work is performed in a remote, work from home environment. The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. Movement through sites and labs may occasionally be required as employee may need to visit these environments. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Visual acuity is required to read and produce accurate materials. Use of keyboards and cellular devices.
Compensation for this role is between $20 - $22/hour, though may be modified commensurate with job level, education, and experience.
Annualized Base Salary
$20 - $22 USD
