Statistical Intern
Location: While we are a remote-based organization, and fields on LinkedIn or other third party sites may show as "Remote," please note this position requires someone with the ability to be on site at our offices in Boston, MA on a frequent basis.
The Opportunity
Praxis Precision Medicines is seeking a highly motivated Statistical Intern in the final year of their PhD program in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of clinical trial designs and statistical analyses in a real-world setting. You'll collaborate with experienced biostatisticians and data scientists to support clinical development efforts, with a strong emphasis on conducting simulations and statistical modeling using R or Python.
This is expected to be an engagement of approximately 3 to 6 months with mentorship and exposure to cross-functional drug development teams. Full- or part-time depending on availability of the final candidate.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in the statistical design and analysis of clinical trials under the guidance of senior statisticians.
- Design and execute simulations and modeling projects using R or Python to evaluate study design options, power, and sensitivity analyses.
- Support the development of statistical analysis plans (SAPs), protocols, and clinical study reports (CSRs).
- Participate in exploratory data analysis and visualization tasks to inform decision-making.
- Apply or gain experience with CDISC standards (SDTM and ADaM) in collaboration with statistical programmers.
- Review relevant literature to identify and implement appropriate statistical methodologies.
Qualifications and Key Success Factors
- PhD candidate in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline, currently in the final year of their program.
- Demonstrated experience with simulation studies and statistical modeling in R or Python.
- Solid understanding of statistical concepts relevant to clinical trials (e.g., power analysis, hypothesis testing, missing data).
- Proficiency with statistical programming and data manipulation in R or Python; knowledge of SAS is a plus.
- Familiarity with ICH/GCP guidelines and the regulatory environment is a bonus.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.

Annualized Base Salary
$50,000 - $65,000 USD
