Job Summary
We are seeking a Non-Sterile Pharmacist to join our Northeast Operations team in Bellmore, NY. This role is centered around non-sterile compounding oversight, production support, and pharmacist verification, ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient preparation of customized medications.
The Non-Sterile Pharmacist will play an active role within the lab environment, overseeing compounding activities, reviewing formulations, and supporting pharmacy technicians in day-to-day production. This individual will also perform pharmacist verification (PV1/PV2) and ensure all compounded medications meet USP <795>, regulatory, and internal quality standards.
This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced compounding pharmacy environment, requiring both operational awareness and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and support non-sterile compounding operations, including creams, gels, suspensions, capsules, troches, and other customized dosage forms
- Review formulations, ingredient calculations, and compounding processes to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Provide hands-on guidance and support to pharmacy technicians during compounding activities
- Ensure all compounds meet USP <795>, state pharmacy regulations, and internal SOPs
- Perform pharmacist verification (PV1 and/or PV2) for completed prescriptions
- Review prescriptions for appropriateness, dosing accuracy, and compliance
- Monitor compounding workflow to ensure efficiency, quality, and timely production
- Identify, document, and resolve compounding errors, discrepancies, or process issues
- Maintain accurate compounding records, batch documentation, and verification logs
- Support inventory awareness of raw materials and assist with proper utilization within the lab
- Collaborate with pharmacy and operations leadership to improve workflow, quality, and scalability of compounding processes
Required Qualifications
- Active New York Pharmacist license in good standing
- Experience in pharmacy operations, compounding, or production environments
- Strong understanding of pharmacy laws, regulations, and compliance standards
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to support and guide pharmacy technicians
- Ability to follow SOPs and maintain consistent documentation standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a non-sterile compounding pharmacy
- Familiarity with USP <795> standards
- Experience with PV1 and PV2 workflows
- Hands-on experience in compounding production environments
- Experience with customized medications and formulation review
- Experience using pharmacy software systems
