From a high-level perspective, the Product Owner will define goals and create a vision for development projects.

Product owners are versatile and able to blend multiple capabilities to ensure the success of their projects. This includes project management, leading, Agile-based development meetings e.g; daily stand ups, sprint reviews, writing clear requirements for developers, and for communicating with stakeholders across the board, including customers, business managers, and the development teams to make sure the goals are clear and the vision is aligned with business objectives.

The role supports product management through combining product ownership, product development and execution. This role focuses on managing a product(s) and/or project(s), which includes obtaining and understanding market research, voice of client, and gathering internal business/stakeholder inputs. The output is in creating product requirements e.g.: writing detailed user stories and requirements that capture both the functional and technical specifications.  The Product Owner works closely with senior business users to write and validate written requirements prior to application development. A key part of the role is understanding the product/project needs and converting them to comprehensive written and mapped end-user requirements, functional specifications, and testing. Scrum Agile knowledge is required as is the flexibility to promote an iterative software development model, as well as a detail-oriented mindset to manage all aspects of requirements from gathering to managing requirements changes. This role plays a critical part in product development and assists with roadmap creation including managing their product backlog and grooming.

Collaborates with business intelligence, application development teams, and their interdependencies to understand, document, and interpret complex requirements. Responsible for defining, tracking, and managing various workstreams by working closely with business partners. Expected to act as both a product owner and a project manager for individual projects as well as manage their respective release activities.   

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

  • Assume product ownership with accountability for the product development life cycle
  • Direct the teams towards a common objective and document the solution(s)
  • Develop requirement documentation for technology and data driven products and operational business processes
  • Monitor and evaluate product progress at each stage of the process
  • Function as both product and project manager to ensure milestones are met and to coordinate release planning
  • Participate in Scrum meetings and product sprints
  • Create test plans and technical requirements for performance and business logic testing
  • Develop business processes and implementation solutions for collection and management of requirements in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Conduct design sessions to document feature requirements and guide stakeholders and data architects towards decisions
  • Help development teams work within agile frameworks to maintain existing functionality and grow products aligned with business priorities and solving client pain points
  • Coordinate meetings with Engagement, Business Intelligence and Application Teams and/or key content experts as necessary
  • Prepare regular status/update documentation as well as facilitate meetings for on-going projects and solutions
  • Collaborate with other Product Owner(s) to create, maintain and update roadmap documentation
  • Liaise with the product team and end-users to deliver updates

Qualifications:

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline or equivalent working experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in a product company as a technical and functional Product Owner/Manager or Product Owner/Manager and/or business analyst or project management role
  • Experience working with advanced analytic platforms and metric definitions
  • Experience working with Scrum Agile
  • Understanding of one or more software platforms, platform-based apps, web services, APIs and UX
  • Excellent documentation, organizational skills, and detail orientation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize complex information clearly for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Direct experience in change and process management
  • Product and/or project management or similar experience in establishing and training others in best practices and processes

Preferred:

  • Experience working with global development team(s)
  • Experience with healthcare/life sciences/pharmaceutical industry
  • Professional experience in development and delivery via Agile framework using DevOps or other enterprise tool(s) involving multiple teams and iterative product releases
  • Passion for development of great products and a desire to delight clients
  • A sense of urgency, decisiveness, and ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to listen and to think independently, and be a curious and creative person

This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Precision, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. This role is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, health insurance, retirement savings benefits, life insurance and disability benefits, parental leave, and paid time off for sick leave and vacation, among other benefits.

$97,000 - $135,000 USD
