Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Transmission Builder to join our team, specializing in GM 6L90 and Ford 6R80 automatic transmissions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in diagnosing, disassembling, rebuilding, and testing transmissions to factory or high-performance standards. Precision, attention to detail, and in-depth mechanical knowledge are critical for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose and disassemble GM 6L90 and Ford 6R80 transmissions
Rebuild transmissions to OEM specifications or performance upgrades
Inspect, clean, and replace worn or damaged components
Maintain organized and clean work area, including proper documentation of builds
Perform quality control checks and test units to ensure functionality
Communicate effectively with team members and shop management
Stay current with industry standards, rebuild procedures, and technical bulletins
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
Adhere to all safety and environmental policies

Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years experience rebuilding automatic transmissions, specifically GM 6L90 and Ford 6R80 units
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics
Familiarity with transmission testing procedures and equipment
Must provide own basic tools; specialty tools provided
ASE Certification (preferred but not required)
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training a plus

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs
Standing, bending, and working with hands for extended periods
Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to fluids and parts

Compensation Range

$30 - $36 USD
