Position Summary:

The Service Writer is the primary point of contact between drivers, technicians, and internal departments regarding vehicle service and repair needs. This role is responsible for writing accurate service orders, coordinating maintenance, communicating updates, and ensuring timely turnaround of vehicles. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and experience in a fast-paced automotive or logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet drivers, vendors, and internal staff to assess vehicle service needs

  • Create and manage service orders, documenting all required work clearly and accurately

  • Communicate service needs with technicians and track progress on repairs and maintenance

  • Verify warranty coverage and repair authorizations as needed

  • Coordinate parts ordering and ensure timely availability for service jobs

  • Monitor vehicle flow through the maintenance process to avoid delays

  • Provide clear status updates to drivers and managers

  • Maintain organized records of work orders, parts, and services performed

  • Ensure compliance with DOT, company policies, and safety standards

  • Support fleet maintenance scheduling and reporting as needed

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in a service writer, service advisor, or related automotive/logistics role

  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and maintenance terminology

  • Experience using maintenance or fleet management software (e.g., Fleetio, RTA, TMT) is a plus

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to accuracy

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or automotive training preferred

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if required for vehicle movement)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, stand, and move between vehicle bays and office areas

  • May occasionally lift or carry tools, equipment, or documents (up to 25 lbs)

  • Comfortable working in indoor/outdoor environments around vehicles

Compensation Range

$20 - $25 USD
