Come discover how we empower our clients to solve their biggest challenges and make their business dreams come true.

The Predictive Index is a place where people with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives collaborate on amazing, important work. We celebrate our differences, knowing that they are fundamental to our success as an organization. “Better Work, Better World,” starts here, in an organization where every member of the PI community is valued, respected, and welcome. We encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply.

POSITION:

Since PI’s Behavioral Assessment was developed in 1955, industrial-organizational psychologists and psychometricians have worked to evaluate, maintain, and advance PI’s Science. Over the past 70 years the work of the PI Science Team has evolved beyond psychometric maintenance into product development and stakeholder support. Our small, but mighty team is responsible for certifying that our assessments and tools continue to meet the standard of psychometric rigor we’ve exemplified for many years, educating internal and external stakeholders on our research, and consulting with internal product teams to ensure any new development is in line with organizational best practices.

We’re looking for a bright, analytical, and creative Senior Product Scientist with demonstrated success in conducting workplace research and developing assessments. In this role, you will lead projects in research, data science, psychometrics, AI/machine learning, product innovation, client education, thought leadership, and everything in between. It’s not a stuffy, boring science role. You will drive the PI Science Team’s research agenda and make critical contributions in improving our assessments and software, conducting validation studies, developing new assessments and related tools, and producing education and support materials for our network of more than 500 consultants.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Utilizing psychometrics skills to conduct statistical analyses (e.g., factor analyses, differential item functioning) to maintain validity, reliability, and fairness of existing pre-hire assessments and to develop new assessments.
  • Creating, editing, and updating technical and client-facing documents, including third-party audit documentation, internal white papers, and client facing technical guides on PI Assessments.
  • Translating advanced statistical concepts into compelling stories for non-technical audiences that enable product development, internal and partner sales, customer success, and marketing efforts.
  • Collaborating with internal and external teams, including product, design, marketing, customer success, and our Partner Network to develop a research agenda aimed at providing actionable and indispensable insights to our clients.
  • Leading the Science team’s research agenda including conducting literature reviews, item writing, field testing, running pilot tests, running analyses, and developing reports.
  • Conducting research on trending topics (e.g., use of AI in organizational practices, neurodiversity in the workplace) and contributing to thought leadership through papers, presentations, and product innovations.
  • Managing validation studies from start to finish, including sampling plans, data collection, data cleaning, analysis, and presentation of results.

Should you apply? If you’ve got all the skills, drop what you’re doing right now! If you’ve got some of these skills, we still want to hear about them!

  • Doctoral degree in I/O psychology, organizational behavior, data science, or similar field studying psychology, psychometrics, or business analytics.
  • 2+ years of experience working in people analytics and/or human resources software/technology or a related field.
  • Strong data analytic and statistics skills including expertise in R and an advanced understanding of psychometric analysis (e.g., item analysis, scale reliability, validity, developing scale norms).
  • Working knowledge of validity, reliability, fairness, employee selection, pre-hire assessments, employee engagement, and employee development, as well as current trends in IO psychology.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts or research findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to operate at the intersection of fast pace and high quality.
  • Track record of leading analyses, research studies, or data-driven projects for clients.
  • Confidence with communicating novel ideas and getting creative to solve them.

You will excel in this role if you:

  • Are passionate about statistics, data, and psychological measurement and testing, and enjoy breaking down complex analyses into digestible, understandable insights for stakeholders.
  • Believe in the power of using pre-hire assessments in employee selection and know the importance of maintaining the psychometric properties of those assessments.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and accountability. You can drive projects independently from start to finish and rely on your resourcefulness to solve problems.
  • Collaborate and influence well. You love working with people you can learn from, you are confident in your expertise, and can deliver it constructively and respectfully.
  • Have a strong moral compass and drive to ensure clients and users are exercising best practices in hiring, management, and employee development. At the same time, you understand the importance of balancing ideal solutions with practical realities.
  • Are curious and inquisitive and enjoy helping external stakeholders solve problems. You can flexibly balance a comprehensive research agenda with changing external needs.
