Role Summary:
As a Staff Software Engineer (Frontend), you will play a crucial role in shaping our product’s user interfaces, across both our open source and commercial offerings. You will lead frontend initiatives, mentor developers, and work closely with our product managers and designers to deliver high-quality, scalable web applications.
You’ll play an important part in helping guide Prefect’s next iteration of it’s user interfaces, not just from a technical standpoint but across information architecture and user experience design as well.
What You’ll Do:
- Architect, and implement frontend systems using modern web technologies
- Lead technical decision-making for frontend projects and establish best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, refine, and implement new features
- Contribute to the product roadmap and technical strategy
- Optimize client-side application performance and ensure high-quality user experiences
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
Your Qualifications:
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a solid focus on frontend development and demonstrated experience as a technical lead within a team
- Mastery of JavaScript (TypeScript), HTML, CSS, and modern frontend frameworks (React strongly preferred, Vue experience a bonus)
- Strong understanding of web performance optimization techniques
- Strong, demonstrated sense of user experience design
- Experience building complex single-page applications with demonstrated knowledge of best practices surrounding state management, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility
- Familiarity with backend technologies (Python experience a bonus) and RESTful APIs
- Track record of leading successful projects and mentoring other developers, particularly with SaaS products at scale

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000 - $243,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and work location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and relevant job levels. Your recruiter can share more about the salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please keep in mind that equity is not included in the range provided above and will represent a significant part of your total compensation. Benefits and any bonus or incentive compensation is also not included in the range provided above.
