As a Sales Engineer, you’ll represent our technical capabilities in the field, working directly with customers, engineers, and project teams from initial concept through implementation. Your Experience at Premier

Here’s what you can expect from the role, the team, and the culture that supports you:

 

  • Position Type: Full-time, salaried (non-commission)
  • Location & Work Environment: Based out of our Monroeville, PA office, with frequent travel throughout the tri-state and greater Northeast region
  • Schedule & Travel: Monday–Friday with flexibility; primarily day travel with approximately 10–15% overnight travel and up to 40% total travel
  • Team & Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, project management, and customer support teams to ensure accurate scoping, quoting, and execution
  • Hands-On Technical Engagement: Apply a strong technical foundation to customer-facing automation projects, with regular on-site visits to understand applications, validate requirements, and support solution development
  • Growth & Development: Continue building technical depth in automation systems and customer applications while expanding skills in solution-based selling and account strategy
  • Interview & Onboarding Process: Virtual interview, reference checks, and on-site interview with facility tour

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Sales Engineer, you will:

 

  • Manage and grow existing customer accounts by building strong, long-term relationships grounded in technical trust
  • Analyze customer technical requirements and applications, translating them into well-scoped automation and engineering solutions
  • Prepare technically sound proposals and detailed quotations aligned with customer needs and system requirements
  • Serve as a technical resource during pre-sales and post-sales phases, supporting solution development, clarification, and issue resolution
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to validate technical requirements, support accurate scoping and quoting, and ensure successful implementation
  • Visit customer sites regularly to understand applications, verify design requirements, and strengthen partnerships
  • Participate in industry conferences, trainings, and trade shows to expand technical knowledge and promote company capabilities

 

 

Experience and Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical engineering field, preferably Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical sales experience
  • 2–5+ years of professional experience applying engineering principles within automation, systems integration, or technical sales environments
  • Strong, working understanding of industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, motor drives, and/or robotic automation
  • Ability to develop and present technically sound proposals, and confidently discuss engineering solutions with customer engineering and operations teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility with engineers, operators, and executive-level stakeholders
  • Proficiency with CRM software and standard office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Comfortable working in customer facilities and supporting field-based activities, including travel up to 40%
