Maintenance & Utility Specialist

As a Maintenance & Utility Specialist, you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping our offices, production shop, and building grounds safe, functional, and well-maintained. You’ll handle light repairs, routine preventive maintenance, and building safety inspections, while serving as the main point of contact for outside contractors such as cleaning services, landscapers, and specialized trades. Your Experience at Premier

Here’s what you can expect from the role, the team, and our culture:

  • Position & Schedule: Full-time, hourly role with overtime as needed. Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Reporting & Location: Reports to the Manager of Manufacturing Operations at our Murrysville facility and supports facility and maintenance needs across all four Premier Automation buildings—three in Monroeville and one in Murrysville.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Maintenance & Utility Specialist, you will:

  • Perform light maintenance and preventive tasks across office and production areas, including lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and general building inspections; identify and respond to issues such as leaks, flooring, doors, windows, blinds, handrails, or parking lot/step hazards, coordinating repairs as needed
  • Ensure routine safety inspections are completed—either directly or through contractors—for fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, first aid kits, and other emergency response equipment, and maintain inspection records
  • Oversee outside contractors and vendors such as cleaning services, landscapers, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical providers, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to company standards
  • Perform minor facility support tasks such as removing cardboard, changing trash, moving furniture, and assisting with surveillance equipment installation or related needs
  • Assist with office and shop setup needs, including arranging workspaces, supporting facility projects, or preparing for company events (parties, catered lunches, outdoor picnics, etc.)
  • Track and maintain supply inventory for maintenance and safety needs
  • Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other equipment once trained and certified, and perform equipment safety inspections as needed
  • Perform general support tasks during downtime, assisting with production, shipping/receiving, and inventory activities as needed

 

 

Experience and Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in maintenance, building systems, or trades a plus
  • 2+ years of prior experience in general maintenance, facilities support, or a related trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, building services); 3–5 years preferred
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building repair practices
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, ladders, and basic maintenance equipment
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; able to perform inspections, maintain records, and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Good communication skills to interact with staff and coordinate with outside contractors and vendors
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and proactively identify facility needs
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks as required
  • Valid driver’s license required for travel between facilities and occasional vendor coordination; may operate company vehicles as needed
  • Ability to operate company vehicles and equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.) or willingness to complete provided training and certification
  • Ability to pass and maintain a DOT physical and medical card (preferred); company will cover the cost of initial and renewal exams. If unable to qualify, flexibility may be considered depending on role fit
