JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for operating X-ray equipment that assists physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury. Additionally, the X-Ray / Radiology technician executes necessary medical assisting procedures to maintain seamless daily operations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform X-ray examinations on patients as per physician orders, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and positioning them correctly.

Operate imaging equipment proficiently to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.

Maintain accurate patient records and document imaging procedures performed.

Collaborate with healthcare professionals to interpret images and assist in diagnostic evaluations.

Adhere to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols during all procedures.

Stay updated on advancements in medical imaging technology, including PET scans and mammography.

Assist in urgent care settings as needed, providing timely imaging services for trauma cases at Level I Trauma Centers.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Certification as an X-ray Technician or Radiologic Technologist from an accredited program.

Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is essential for effective communication within the healthcare team.

Experience with various imaging modalities such as sonography, PET scans, and mammography is preferred but not required.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions during diagnostic evaluations.

Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure a positive experience for patients undergoing imaging procedures.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, particularly in urgent care settings.
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
- Knowledge of Medical Assistant Procedures.
- Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
- Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
- Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
- Ability to perform as a Medical Assistant, triaging patients, taking vitals and drawing blood.
- Ability to lift and position patients for the type of X-ray procedure required.
- Ability to notice detail in drawings and differences in shapes and shadings.
- Ability to read and write instructions, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees.
- Ability to competently use Microsoft Office.
