The role

We’re looking for a commercially minded and detail-oriented Senior Legal Counsel to support Prezzee’s next phase of international growth. Reporting to the General Counsel, you’ll be a trusted partner to the business, advising on commercial, consumer, privacy and data-related legal risks while shaping the legal frameworks that enable our products, partnerships, and operations.

With a strong focus on negotiating third-party contracts, including MSAs, SaaS agreements, distribution and data protection terms; you’ll work cross-functionally to ensure our legal position is practical, scalable and aligned with business objectives.

You’ll also play a key role in evolving our internal legal processes and ensuring we remain agile, risk-aware, and positioned for long-term success in a dynamic global mark

We are a hybrid workplace, working Mon-Thurs in office and from home on Fridays.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Contract Management & Negotiation

  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including service agreements, SaaS contracts, data protection agreements, reseller and distribution agreements.
Ensure contract terms align with company policy, legal requirements and market standards.
Identify and assess contractual risks, and advise on mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with the General Counsel to resolve disputes or complex negotiations effectively and pragmatically.

Legal Advisory & Risk Management

  • Provide timely and practical legal advice to leadership and key stakeholders across the business.
Advise on commercial law, intellectual property, competition and consumer law, and privacy/data protection issues.
  • Support the business in identifying legal risks and making informed decisions in line with regulatory and operational considerations.
  • Develop strong partnerships with internal teams to align legal support with strategic goals.

Compliance & Governance

  • Stay up to date on relevant legal and regulatory changes, particularly within ANZ.
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal governance frameworks and compliance monitoring activities.
Assist in reviewing and implementing internal policies that reflect both legal obligations and best practice.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Build trusted relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, legal advisors and business leaders.
Translate legal concepts into clear and actionable advice for a non-legal audience.
  • Manage matters with multiple stakeholders, ensuring alignment, risk awareness and timely resolution.
Engage external counsel when required and coordinate responses.

Operational Legal Support

  • Draft legal advice and maintain clear, well-organised legal documentation.
Support broader legal and operational initiatives as required.

What You’ll Bring

  • Admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia with a current practising certificate
  • Minimum of 8 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) gained at a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal department
  • Deep experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts (including MSAs, SaaS, data and distribution agreements)
  • Expertise in general commercial law, with exposure to intellectual property, consumer law, competition, and privacy/data protection
  • A proven ability to operate as a trusted business partner—pragmatic, solutions-oriented, and focused on enabling outcomes, not blocking them
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the confidence to influence across functions and seniority levels
  • Strong commercial acumen and sound judgement in navigating legal risk within a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • A collaborative working style and ability to thrive in a hybrid, cross-functional global business
