Spring 2025 Co-op: Lab Operations

Co-op Assignment Overview

Prime Medicine is seeking a co-op for the Spring 2025 semester with interest in learning about lab operations. The candidate will be involved in the day-to-day operations of multi-site biology and chemistry laboratories. The work will include asset management, QA, and streamlining lab processes.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with teammates and original equipment manufacturer to confirm assets are qualified and within proper calibration ranges.
  • Manage documentation and record keeping within the asset management system.
  • Conduct 10% asset audits to confirm equipment location, status, and tagging.
  • Participate as a member of the operations team to manage supply chain and ensure wet lab teams have access to all resources necessary for daily operations (labware consumables, reagents, safety and protective gear, etc.)
  • Support quality control procedures by following established protocols and adhering to safety regulations.
  • Partner with scientists to identify operational bottlenecks, develop solutions, and implement new processes.
  • Take advantage of learning opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to all facets of lab operations – asset management, EHS, supply chain/resource management, and lab space management.

Qualifications: 

  • Candidate for B.S./M.S.
  • Basic knowledge of customer service
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Good understanding of Microsoft Outlook and Teams
  • Experience working in a lab setting.
  • Experience with GMP standards
  • Basic knowledge/interest in molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry
