Position Overview:

As the Associate Director/Director of R&D Data Systems, you will take on a leadership role within the IT/Informatics department, overseeing and advancing our digital infrastructure and data management systems. Building on your experience with Benchling, Spotfire and other Informatics data systems, you will lead the development and implementation of innovative solutions to optimize workflows, enhance data modeling, and ensure the accurate capture and analysis of structured data. You will also manage relationships with external vendors, drive the adoption of new technologies, and oversee the Informatics HelpDesk to ensure seamless support across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Support the development and execution of the informatics strategy, aligning with the company’s overall objectives.
  • Drive the adoption of cutting-edge informatics tools and technologies to support research and operational excellence.

Workflow and Process Optimization:

  • Oversee the mapping and optimization of workflows and processes across departments.
  • Ensure that data models and templates are scalable, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices.

Data Management and Analytics:

  • Lead the structured capture and analysis of data using Benchling, Spotfire, and other relevant platforms.
  • Develop and implement strategies for data integration, and automated data-ingestion ensuring the availability of high-quality data for decision-making.

Vendor Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external vendors, leveraging partnerships to enhance product features and resolve technical issues.
  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements with vendors to ensure cost-effective and high-quality solutions.

Informatics HelpDesk Oversight:

  • Oversee the Informatics HelpDesk, ensuring timely and effective support for internal stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve HelpDesk processes and systems to enhance service delivery.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that informatics solutions meet the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Work closely with IT, Research, and other teams to integrate informatics solutions seamlessly into broader organizational processes.

Compliance and Best Practices:

  • Ensure that all informatics activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and developments, implementing changes as needed to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Data or Life Sciences.
  • Deep, proven experience with Benchling, Spotfire, or similar platforms.
  • Strong background in workflow/process mapping, data modeling, and analytics.
  • Experience in vendor management and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in team development and mentorship.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industry.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards related to data management.
  • Previous experience in a managerial or leadership role within informatics.
