Senior Scientist, LNP Discovery
Company Overview:
Prime Medicine is a leading biotechnology company dedicated to creating and delivering the next generation of gene editing therapies to patients. The Company is leveraging its proprietary Prime Editing platform, a versatile, precise and efficient gene editing technology, to develop a new class of differentiated, one-time, potentially curative genetic therapies. Designed to make only the right edit at the right position within a gene while minimizing unwanted DNA modifications, Prime Editors have the potential to repair almost all types of genetic mutations and work in many different tissues, organs and cell types.
Prime Medicine is currently progressing a diversified portfolio of investigational therapeutic programs organized around our core areas of focus: hematology, immunology & oncology, liver and lung. Across each core area, Prime Medicine is focused initially on a set of high value programs, each targeting a disease with well-understood biology and a clearly defined clinical development and regulatory path, and each expected to provide the foundation for expansion into additional opportunities. Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Scientist with expertise in lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation and application of LNPs to mouse models to join our LNP Discovery team focused on developing non-viral delivery systems for cystic fibrosis therapies. This role involves designing and characterizing LNPs for in vivo delivery of Prime Editor RNA molecules, with hands-on in vivo work in pulmonary delivery studies. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute across the full spectrum of LNP development, from formulation to in vivo delivery, within a collaborative, interdisciplinary cross-functional program team. We are looking for curious problem solvers who enjoy working on fast-paced, exciting projects, working within a team and are passionate about developing genetic editing technologies to better human health and well-being.
The ideal candidate will be onsite 5 days a week in Cambridge, MA.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and formulate LNPs using microfluidics; characterize using DLS, zeta potential, pKa, and Ribogreen assays.
- Execute and support in vivo studies focused on pulmonary delivery of LNP formulations including intratracheal delivery in preclinical models.
- Collaborate with internal teams on study design, execution, data collection, and interpretation.
- Support downstream analyses using flow cytometry and molecular biology techniques.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate in vivo findings into delivery platform development.
- Present data in written reports and oral presentations.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Biomedical/Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience (or BS+8, MS+6).
- Experience with lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation, QC, and characterization techniques
- Hands-on experience with mouse handling, dosing, and tissue collection; intratracheal delivery (e.g., broncoscope) strongly preferred.
- Familiarity/experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., qPCR, DNA sequencing, mammalian cell culture, and flow cytometry preferred.
- Strong organizational and critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
