We are seeking a skilled and experienced Control Room Operator to support the operation of a power plant running on natural gas or liquid fuel utilizing aero-derivative or industrial turbine generators. This is a critical, front-line role responsible for real-time plant control, system integrity, and coordination of plant activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Location: On-site at a customer power plant

Start Date: Immediately


Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, control, and adjust turbine and balance-of-plant (BoP) systems from the control room to maintain safe and stable power generation.
  • Manage turbine startup, shutdown, synchronization, and load changes in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Respond quickly to alarms, system abnormalities, and unplanned events, coordinating with field technicians and maintenance teams as needed.
  • Operate the plant within defined safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate actively in safety drills, training, and compliance programs.
  • Ensure accurate and timely logging of incidents, operational parameters, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with on-site teams, including maintenance, engineering, and operations staff, to ensure alignment and efficiency.
  • Communicate real-time plant conditions and performance updates clearly to team leaders and management.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and assist in root cause analysis of plant upsets or abnormal conditions.
  • Support less experienced operators with training, guidance, and operational best practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of plant operating procedures and emergency response protocols.
  • Apply your knowledge of turbine-based power generation systems to enhance plant performance, reliability, and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a control room/operator role within a power generation environment.
  • Direct experience with power plants using aero-derivative or industrial turbine generators fueled by natural gas or liquid fuel.
  • Strong situational awareness and ability to respond quickly and independently in high-pressure conditions.
  • Proficient with computer tools including Microsoft Office and plant monitoring/control software.
    Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).

Preferred:

  • Background in mechanical or electrical systems (degree or hands-on technical experience).
  • Familiarity with safety, quality, and environmental standards (ISO, HSE, OSHA).
  • Experience in hybrid or renewable power plants.
  • Certifications in plant operations, turbine systems, or industrial safety.
