Founded by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, tech entrepreneur Alex Fielding, and UT Austin Professor Dr. Moriba Jah, Privateer is pioneering a satellite sharing economy to ensure a sustainable future in space. 

Our Wayfinder platform helps satellite operators safely navigate increasingly crowded orbital highways, while our TerraScope application (part of our recent acquisition of Earth analytics leader Orbital Insight) utilizes advanced AI modeling to expand access to Earth observations from space. 

Together, these technologies aim to eliminate redundant hardware in orbit, enhance satellite safety, and promote efficient use of space resources.

About the Role ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ผ

As a member of the marketing team, youโ€™ll work closely with our growth, engineering, design, and leadership teams to optimize our product positioning and messaging. Your blend of strategic mindset, technology expertise, and understanding of the market (current state and future potential) will help us package our products and drive revenue across government and commercial customers. 

In this critical role, you will not only support immediate product marketing needs, but help inform broader go-to-market strategies, long-term product development, and overall company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • ๐Ÿ“ˆ Understand the market. You know the players in the industry, both large and small, and are adept at positioning our products and informing the product roadmap based on evolving customer needs.
  • ๐Ÿง  Understand the product. While you may not have deep expertise in every area, you have a strong grasp of Earth observation/geospatial intelligence technologies and their derivative applications.
  • ๐ŸŒ‰ Be the bridge. You speak โ€œsalesโ€, you speak some โ€œengineerโ€, AND you speak โ€œcustomerโ€...plus you know when to speak each.
  • ๐Ÿงญ Put us on the map. You know everything that needs to be done to bring products and features to market in a way thatโ€™s compelling and on-brand, and you communicate with everyone involved effectively to make it happen.
  • โญ๏ธ Make it shine. Youโ€™re not necessarily a graphic designer or copywriter by trade, but you can provide detailed direction on language and visuals that will communicate our product offerings to customers in a simple and compelling way.

Professional Requirements ๐Ÿ’ผ

  • 6+ years in a product marketing role, working with data and analytics products, cloud-based platforms, and API-based enablement solutions
  • Strong business thinker and problem-solver, ability to constantly navigate the needs of internal and external stakeholders
  • Top-notch communication and presentation skills - this includes effective verbal communication in meetings, as well as developing presentation materials
  • Superb time management, judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • US Green card holder or US Citizen
  • And, of course, a love for all things space! (Space and/or geospatial industry knowledge and experience are strongly preferred.)
