Staff Accountant
About Private Health Management
Private Health Management (PHM) supports people with serious and complex medical conditions, helping them obtain the best possible medical care. We guide individuals and families to top specialists, advanced diagnostics, and personalized care. Trusted by healthcare providers and businesses, PHM offers independent, science-backed insights to help clients make informed decisions and access the best care.
About the role
As a Staff Accountant at PHM, you’ll join the company at a formative stage of our finance function, with the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility early in your career and grow alongside a rapidly scaling organization.
This role is intentionally scoped at the Staff level to provide hands-on exposure across the full accounting lifecycle and clear room for development. You’ll be doing real work—across accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, close, and analysis—not simply pushing transactions through a highly automated system.
In return, you’ll be trained and mentored by experienced finance leaders with strong public accounting backgrounds who are deeply invested in developing talent. This is a role for someone who is inquisitive, detail-oriented, and not afraid to get into the weeds. If you’re early in your career and looking for a place where your work truly matters, this role was designed with you in mind.
What You’ll Accomplish
As a Staff Accountant, you will:
-
Build a strong foundation across core accounting functions by owning hands-on work from day one
-
Support accurate, timely month-end, quarterly, and year-end close processes as PHM grows
-
Develop strong judgment, discipline, and analytical skills by working closely with senior finance leadership
How You’ll Spend Your Days
In this role, you will:
-
Process accounting transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP and PHM internal control policies
-
Prepare monthly account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting financial schedules
-
Assist with revenue recognition and expense analysis
-
Support preparation of monthly financial statements and variance analysis versus budget and forecast
-
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including proper coding, cash disbursements, and cash applications
-
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities
-
Prepare audit schedules and documentation for financial statement and compliance audits
-
Partner with internal stakeholders across operations and clinical support teams
-
Identify opportunities to improve processes and help scale finance operations thoughtfully as PHM grows
What you bring to the table
To be successful as a Staff Accountant at PHM, you bring:
-
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
-
1–3 years of accounting experience in an Audit/Assurance team at a public accounting firm or a fast-growing company
-
Exposure to U.S. GAAP and a strong desire to continue building technical depth
-
Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookups
-
Experience with accounting systems or ERPs (Sage Intacct preferred)
-
CPA or CPA-eligible status (preferred, not required)
-
High attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, well-organized work
-
Curiosity, strong follow-through, and comfort asking thoughtful questions
-
Analytical thinking—not just task execution
-
The ability to manage deadlines and priorities independently in a fully remote environment
