A Little About the Role

As a Lead Mobile Engineer on our team you will help build, maintain, and direct best-in-class native mobile applications for iOS and Android. We have built solutions which enable childcare organizations to efficiently and intuitively manage their business, so they can 
focus on the children. The demands for these organizations are high and you will be a part in helping our customers easily manage their growing business complexity by making their daily demands simple to navigate through our mobile platforms. This includes features to 
enable communication with teachers, parents and leads; tracking and recording daily activities for children, staff schedules and sign-ins, as well as parent payments and notifications to name a few.

You'll be a key member of our growing engineering team while we expand on existing features and deliver new functionality across both iOS and Android platforms. Our fast-paced, agile environment uses modern technologies where you will help optimize our mobile applications for stability, performance, and exceptional user experience. What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Design, Product Management, and Engineering
  • Architect, design, develop, and deploy mobile features across iOS and Android platforms
  • Direct the work of a focused mobile engineering scrum team / pod
  • Coach other members of the engineering team on mobile development best practices
  • Write performant, maintainable mobile code while iterating and shipping rapidly
  • Ensure appropriate automated test coverage for optimal product reliability and release velocity
  • Ensure apps run efficiently and intuitively across all device types and form factors
  • Make sure visual designs are meticulously implemented to spec on both platforms
  • Recommend solutions that leverage platform-specific offerings for the best native app experience
  • Refactor existing code to improve maintainability and efficiency
  • Evaluate and implement cross-platform solutions as needed ie: Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM)
  • Integrate mobile applications with RESTful APIs and back-end services
  • Configure mobile app monitoring, crash reporting, and analytics systems
  • Contribute to improving and enforcing mobile development, Agile, and CI/CD delivery best practices
  • Present new ideas and respectfully debate those ideas with the team

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree Computer Science or related experience
  • 8+ years' of experience building native mobile applications
  • Expertise with iOS development (Swift, Xcode) and Android development (Android Studio)
  • Advanced knowledge of both iOS and Android development environments and ecosystems
  • Understanding of Apple's Human Interface Guidelines and Google's Material Design principles
  • Significant knowledge of mobile UI/UX design principles, patterns, and best practices
  • Experience with cross-platform development approaches, particularly Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) or similar technologies
  • Familiar with mobile architecture patterns such as VIPER, MVP, MVVM, MVC, and Clean Architecture
  • Strong experience integrating with RESTful APIs to connect mobile applications to back-end services
  • Experience with mobile app deployment processes for both App Store and Google Play Store
  • Knowledge of mobile CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
  • Experience with mobile app performance optimization, memory management, and battery efficiency
  • Strong knowledge of Git and branching models in a collaborative coding environment
  • Experience with mobile analytics, crash reporting, and monitoring tools
  • Communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated track record of working successfully across engineering, design and product teams
  • Experience with Agile processes in a structured setting (Scrum and/or Kanban)
  • Experience using data for decision-making related to team and system performance, relying heavily on mobile telemetry and user analytics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with React Native, Flutter, Hotwire Native or other cross-platform frameworks
  • Knowledge of mobile security best practices and app hardening
  • Experience with mobile DevOps and automated deployment pipelines
  • Familiarity with backend technologies and API design
  • Experience in childcare, education, or SaaS industries
  • Contributions to open source mobile projects or technical writing

Physical Requirements:

  • This position works most of the time in a fixed office location and may involve sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods
  • Frequently required to communicate verbally and in writing (mostly email) with customers, prospects, and other employees
  • Use of computer, telephone, and other office equipment for the greater part of the workday
  • Occasional travel may be required for this position

Salary

$145,800-163,000/year DOE

Location

This position is based in our Denver, CO office. We are currently in a hybrid in-office/remote working model based on business needs. Candidates must be willing and able to work from our Denver, CO office a minimum of 3 days a week.
