Job Overview

Proconex is seeking an experienced sales professional to drive growth and customer engagement within the data center market. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing a strategic growth plan across the Mid-Atlantic region and leading business development efforts for controls, valves and actuation, instrumentation, automation, systems integration, SCADA, and lifecycle services. The position works closely with engineering, project execution, service, legal, and finance teams to develop and deliver solutions for hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and supporting infrastructure projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

Market Development & Sales Strategy

  • Develop and execute the data center sales, account, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Identify, qualify, and close opportunities across automation, controls, instrumentation, valves and actuation, BMS, SCADA, electrical monitoring, integration, modernization, commissioning support, and lifecycle services.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer requirements to support growth initiatives.
  • Expand Proconex's presence within the data center industry and increase market share.

Sales Execution

  • Lead sales pursuits from opportunity identification through solution development, proposal creation, contract negotiation, award, project handoff, and account expansion.
  • Develop and maintain account plans, opportunity strategies, forecasts, and pipeline management activities.
  • Present technical and commercial solutions to customer and stakeholder groups.
  • Achieve revenue, profitability, and growth objectives while maintaining CRM records and reporting.

Technical & Solution Development

  • Collaborate with technical and sales support resources to develop customer solutions and proposals.
  • Position integrated solutions spanning power generation and monitoring, cooling systems, building automation, OT infrastructure, analytics, facility visualization, and lifecycle services.
  • Engage with customers during planning and design phases to influence specifications, system architectures, and approved supplier positions.

Relationship Management

  • Develop relationships with data center owners, operators, developers, engineering firms, EPCs, general contractors, mechanical and electrical contractors, OEMs, and technology partners.
  • Maintain regular customer engagement to identify opportunities, understand project requirements, and support account growth.
  • Represent Proconex at customer meetings, industry events, partner engagements, and regional data center forums.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with engineering, project execution, service, legal, and finance teams during opportunity development and project handoff.
  • Support evaluation of customer requirements, delivery risks, pricing, contract terms, and project schedules.
  • Participate in sales and project review processes to support successful project execution.

Lifecycle Services Growth

  • Develop opportunities for multi-year service agreements, preventive maintenance programs, resident support, remote monitoring, cybersecurity services, modernization initiatives, optimization programs, and lifecycle planning.
  • Support customer retention and account expansion through lifecycle service offerings.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all Proconex safety policies, procedures, and customer-specific safety requirements.
  • Comply with applicable company, customer, and site safety standards during customer visits and project activities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in data center sales, business development, strategic account management, or mission-critical infrastructure.
  • 5+ years of experience selling complex technical solutions, including automation, controls, instrumentation, valves and actuation, systems integration, infrastructure, or lifecycle services.
  • 5+ years of experience building and maintaining relationships across the data center ecosystem, including owners, developers, engineering firms, contractors, OEMs, and integrators.
  • 5+ years of experience closing multi-million-dollar projects and long-term service agreements.
  • 5+ years of experience developing account plans, leading consultative sales processes, negotiating commercial agreements, managing forecasts, and presenting to executive-level stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with distributed control systems (DCS), PLCs, BMS, SCADA, and electrical power management systems.
  • Experience with critical power infrastructure, backup generation, UPS systems, switchgear, and power monitoring solutions.
  • Experience with cooling systems, central utility plants, liquid cooling technologies, and associated controls.
  • Experience with building automation, DCIM, commissioning, IT/OT integration, cybersecurity, analytics, and facility operations.
  • Experience with systems integration, modernization, lifecycle planning, preventive maintenance programs, remote monitoring, and service agreements.
  • Knowledge of land development processes, property developer business models, site selection, entitlements, zoning, permitting, and utility coordination related to data center projects.
  • Experience with automation platforms, valve technologies, instrumentation, electrical monitoring systems, and data center infrastructure solutions.
