Community Ambassador - Long Island

We’re a Food as Medicine company working with health plans, community organizations, and local farms to deliver medically tailored groceries to people living with chronic conditions and communities facing food insecurity across California and New York. Since 2020, we've delivered nearly 10 million boxes — over 250 million pounds of fresh food. 

We're scaling fast and building the systems, processes, and infrastructure to support national growth. The people who join now will shape how we get there. 

About the Role  

We're looking for a part-time Bilingual Community Outreach Ambassador to be our face in Suffolk County. You'll be out at community events 3–4 times per week — health fairs, resource fairs, wherever people are — talking to residents about what we do, identifying people who might be Medicaid eligible, and getting their info into our lead form so our call center can take it from there. You'll work alongside our area Events Coordinator, who handles the partnerships and event logistics. Your focus is the face-to-face part — community engagement and connecting people to the program. 

What You’ll Do 

• Represent Project FoodBox at approximately 3–4 community events per week across Suffolk County 

• Educate residents about our programs and available services, and identify individuals who may be Medicaid eligible 

• Collect member information through the approved lead form and submit leads accurately and on time for call center follow-up 

• Distribute approved outreach materials and build program awareness in the community 

• Track event activity and leads generated 

• Pass potential partnership opportunities to your Events Coordinator for follow-up

What You Bring 

Required 

• Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking members and community partners 

• Valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle 

• Comfort approaching and engaging community members you haven't met before 

• Attention to detail and accuracy when collecting and submitting lead information 

• Flexible availability for community events, including occasional evenings and weekends 

Preferred 

• Experience in community outreach, customer service, healthcare, or social services 

• Familiarity with Medicaid eligibility or health plan enrollment

Compensation & Benefits 

The expected salary range for this role is $22-$25 hourly. Compensation for this role will depend on various factors, including qualifications, skills, and location.
