What Will You Do?
As a Senior Mobile Test Engineer at Prolaio, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, performance, and reliability of our mobile applications that integrate with connected medical devices. Your expertise in both manual and automated testing will help drive innovation in digital health solutions for heart care.
We are looking for a highly skilled engineer with experience in manual test execution, mobile test automation, and compliance with medical software regulations. You will collaborate with a group of skilled developers, product managers, and other testing teams to ensure our mobile applications meet the highest standards of quality, usability, and compliance.
This role reports to the Lead Mobile Test engineer, but will also have the opportunity to develop a relationship with the Director of Test Engineering. This will be a hybrid role based in the Chicagoland area.
The Specifics
- Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases for iOS and Android mobile applications.
- Add to, maintain, and build mobile test automation frameworks using Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, or similar tools.
- Ensure compliance with medical device software standards such as IEC 62304, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, and ISO 13485.
- Work closely with developers and product managers to identify and address defects early in the development cycle.
- Perform functional, regression, performance, and usability testing to ensure mobile app stability across various devices and OS versions.
- Execute end-to-end testing of mobile applications, including their interaction with backend services, other applications, and connected medical devices.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of test strategies, automation coverage, and CI/CD integration.
- Identify and document software defects, working proactively with developers to resolve issues efficiently.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes, ensuring high-quality software delivery through sprint cycles.

Who You Are
Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in software testing, with a strong focus on mobile applications (iOS and Android)
Technical Skills and Practice
- Experience with mobile test automation frameworks such as Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, Koltin, Swift, etc.).
- Strong understanding of mobile application architectures and testing best practices.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub).
- Hands-on experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, REST-assured) for mobile app backends.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance for medical software (IEC 62304, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485) is a strong plus.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and using test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail).
Additional Qualifications (Nice to Haves)
- Proven experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of testing initiatives.
- Familiarity with testing in regulated industries, such as medical devices or healthcare.
- Understanding of Bluetooth, BLE, and other wireless communication protocols for mobile medical devices.
- Relevant certifications in test automation or software quality assurance (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE).

- Paid Time Off: Prolaio time off policy is based on length of service. As a new employee you will be eligible for 15 days of PTO which you will start to accrue immediately. We also offer a minimum of 5 sick days (adjusted based on location) and 13 paid company holidays each year (11 scheduled and 2 floating).
