Overview

Propeller is seeking a VP, Brand Strategist to join our broader Experience Strategy team as a freelance consultant. This role is ideal for a seasoned brand strategist with expertise in healthcare marketing, particularly for HCPs in pharmaceutical or OTC brands. The VP, Brand Strategist will focus on developing positioning, messaging, brand narratives, and go-to-market strategies to help our clients define and differentiate their brands.

This strategist will partner closely with experience strategists to ensure brand strategy informs and aligns with broader customer experience initiatives. Requires a strong ability to synthesize insights, craft compelling brand strategies and identify key differentiators. This often comes to life through the translation of complex data into clear, actionable brand stories.

Experience in defining brand value propositions and competitive positioning in highly dynamic categories and understanding HCP behaviors is a plus.

Core Responsibilities

Brand Strategy & Positioning

  • Lead brand positioning development, guiding brands through category differentiation to form or evolve a strong strategic foundation
  • Develop messaging architectures rooted in market insights and customer needs.
  • Support brand lifecycle planning, from pre-launch strategies to growth-stage evolution
  • Shape the scientific and emotional brand storytelling for HCP and/or Patient audiences

Market Analysis and Insight Development

  • Conduct market audits and assessments inclusive of competitive positioning, messaging
  • Help to identify whitespace opportunities, remaining rooted in data-driven insights
  • Inform and lead research planning, ensuring insights can translate into actionable strategies
  • Ensure data-driven brand decision-making, leveraging customer insights and competitive intelligence to refine messaging and engagement strategies.

Client & Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Facilitate workshops and strategic discussions to align stakeholders on brand vision and messaging.
  • Support pre-launch and launch planning, ensuring the brand is positioned effectively in the market.
  • Provide strategic input on creative development, ensuring brand voice and identity are consistent across all touchpoints.
  • Guide creative development and campaign strategy by providing strategic input to inform the creative process, and continued input and feedback throughout the creative process to ensure alignment

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of brand strategy experience, preferably within healthcare marketing
  • Expertise in brand positioning and messaging, including leading positioning workshops
  • Understanding of market research methodologies
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical and/or healthcare consumer marketing.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific data into compelling brand narratives.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present strategic recommendations clearly and persuasively to senior-level stakeholders.
  • Experience with CPG or OTC medications is a bonus, particularly in shaping brand strategy in competitive, fast-moving categories.

The range below represents the low and high end of the base salary someone in this role may earn as an employee of an Omnicom Health Group company in the United States. Salaries will vary based on various factors including but not limited to professional and academic experience, training, associated responsibilities, and other business and organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees. Salary decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each hire.

Rate: $110-120/hr
