Summary:
The Human Resources Business Partner works with business leaders to develop and execute HR strategies focused on talent management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning and employee engagement. Serves as the HR representative for locations in the assigned geographic area.
About this role:
Interprets policies and procedures, implements HR Programs, and conducts training and communications to all levels of the team. Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs. Assist the HR team and operations in handling team members relations, including coaching, conflict management, progressive discipline, terminations, exit interviews, stay interviews and maintaining accurate and updated team member files. Provides advice based on knowledge of employment law including state and federal regulations. Maintains compliance with all applicable regulations. Identifies opportunities to improve the work environment through personal observation, practice communication, monitoring of metrics, and innovative human capital strategies. Partners with the operations team to implement tactical HR solutions that support the organization's strategic objectives. Administer Workers' Compensation claims for regional area. Engages with managers and employees on modified duty programs. Administers LMS and Learning and Development systems. Administers leave of absence/FMLA/disability. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws. Accountable for compliance with all Department of Labor guidelines per state and EEOC guidelines. Responds to Unemployment claims for the regional area, and attends Unemployment hearings and mediations.
Candidates for consideration should live in the San Diego, CA region.
Must be able to commute to our San Diego Corporate office as needed.
Salary range:
$75K - $90K - DOE
What you'll do - Includes but not limited to:
- Proactively consult with management and provides HR guidance.
- Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with business units to develop scalable, efficient and effective solutions, programs, policies and procedures.
- Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Coaches and mentors’ employees and managers throughout the business.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirement, minimizing risk and ensuring regulatory compliance in a multi-state environment.
- Collaborates with business units to provide guidance for the Performance Management process
- Act as a Training Lead to research, develop and implement training programs, leveraging LMS and Business Systems to ensure successful training objectives are met.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity, engagement and retention.
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation. Collaborates with business units to develop HR, Safety and Business policies and practices to promote employee engagement and retention.
- Manages Benefits Administration duties, including: routine enrollment, claims and billing issues. Assures COBRA compliance and benefits eligibility and billing reconciliation with vendors; vendor relations; annual enrollment processes and routine business systems integrations issues.
- Manages procedures to maintain compliance with Worker’s Compensation and Safety programs and requirements.
What you'll need:
- Experience supporting multi states
- Bilingual - a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies.
- Ability to support the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and administrative practices/
- Proven success working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, benefits administration, organizational efficacy, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
Education you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
- In lieu of a degree, 5 or more years of relevant experience, you may be considered for employment without the degree or certification, including a minimum of 2 years working and/or supporting CA locations.
