About the role:

We are seeking a versatile and motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing computational pipelines that support our high-throughput drug development system. If you are passionate about bioinformatics, have a high proficiency in coding, and are eager to make a significant impact in the field of drug discovery, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain computational pipelines using Nextflow.
  • Design and manage data visualization tools to support drug development R&D.
  • Develop software solutions for reagent management and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Architect and implement systems to track data and metadata throughout our workflow.
  • Integrate and manage data using MongoDB.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver bioinformatics solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing pipelines to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay current with the latest bioinformatics tools and technologies to continuously improve our processes.
  • Contribute to the discovery of novel therapeutics.
  • Utilize GitHub for version control, code collaboration, and project management.

Required skills

  • Expert proficiency in at least 1 scriptable coding language such as Python, R, C++, or Java.
  • Experience with Nextflow and Groovy for bioinformatic workflow management.
  • Strong knowledge of data visualization techniques and tools.
  • Experience with MongoDB or similar database management of large data.
  • Experience with GitHub for version control and production calibur code.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment & cross disciplinary team.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex technical information.

Preferred qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with high-throughput data analysis.
  • Experience with biological data and methods. 

Preferred experience

  • Domain knowledge in immunology and antibody engineering
  • Machine learning experience
  • Image processing experience

Compensation Range: $100,000/yr-150,000/yr

On-Site Protocol: Recruiting candidates within a 1hr commute of Carlsbad, CA for a nominally in-person position with a great team.
