Marketing Generalist

About us:

The wholesale distribution industry is ready for a revolution, and Proton is leading the charge. Distributors are essential to the global economy, yet the industry has lagged in adopting modern technology. Proton is changing that with AI-powered CRM software that drives 10x ROI, speeds up new hire ramp-up, and boosts sales team morale.

In 2021, we raised a $20M Series A backed by Felicis Ventures (investors in Twitch, Shopify, Opendoor, and many others) and Battery Ventures. This year, we’re laser-focused on driving growth.

About the role: We're looking for a jack-of-all-trades—someone who thrives on variety and isn't afraid to dive into different projects. We prioritize a high bias for action over years of experience. If you’ve done something cool, like starting your own business, building a community, leading a unique project, or any other creative venture, we want to hear from you. (Yes, this means you should apply even if you don’t have experience marketing at a B2B SaaS startup or if you’re a recent grad.)

While our immediate needs focus on content creation and event coordination, you'll have the opportunity to expand into various marketing initiatives as we grow. At Proton, you won’t be pigeonholed; instead, you’ll have the chance to experiment, learn, and grow in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you’ll collaborate closely with various teams to execute growth-driven strategies. This is a collaborative role where you’ll have the freedom to bring new ideas to the table and the support to see them through. You’ll be joining a small but impactful marketing team where your contributions will be felt across the company.

What you’ll do:

  • Content creation: Develop and execute a variety of content, including blog posts, thought leadership articles, customer success stories, and eBooks that resonate with our target audience in the distribution industry. Collaborate with our CEO and other leaders to create compelling narratives that highlight Proton’s value.
  • Event coordination: Plan and manage Proton’s presence at industry events, trade shows, and conferences. Handle all logistics, from selecting events to coordinating schedules and managing pre- and post-event engagement strategies. Occasionally, organize smaller satellite events to deepen relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Campaign management: Develop and execute nurture campaigns that engage and convert leads through targeted email marketing and social media efforts. Leverage data to refine strategies and improve results continuously.
  • Project management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and marketing initiatives align with our business goals. You'll have the flexibility to pivot and adapt as new opportunities arise.
  • Emerging opportunities: Be ready to dive into new tasks and projects as they come up. You'll have the chance to take on challenges that we can’t even predict yet, using your creativity and problem-solving skills to make a real impact.

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Have a high bias for action. You’re not just about ideas—you’re about execution and results.
  • Are deeply curious and love learning about all things marketing.
  • Are a self-starter who takes ownership of your work. You enjoy managing projects end-to-end and are proactive in finding ways to improve processes.
  • Can quickly adapt to changing priorities and enjoy the flexibility of working in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Are a strong writer and communicator who can craft content that speaks directly to our audience.
  • Are highly organized with strong project management skills, capable of juggling multiple responsibilities, from content creation to event planning.
  • Are curious and eager to learn about a new industry. You dig deep to understand the “why” behind our business and marketing efforts.
  • Thrive in a collaborative, results-driven environment and are excited to contribute to the success of a growing team.

Location and travel: We’re looking for someone in the greater Boston area who is open to a hybrid schedule—3 days in the office per week. This role will require occasional travel to visit customers and prospects in the field, and to attend trade shows and events.

Compensation and benefits:

  • Competitive salaries and company stock options: We value your contribution and want you to feel like an owner.
  • Unlimited PTO and 10 company paid holidays: We prioritize work-life balance and provide tools to ensure you can recharge regularly.
  • 401k with employer contribution (US only): We contribute up to 3% of your salary to help you prepare for the future, whether you contribute or not.
  • Medical, dental, and vision Insurance: We cover one medical plan 100% in the USA and cover 50% for dependents.
  • 12 weeks fully paid parental leave: For all caregivers, including adoption and fostering.
  • Annual company paid onsites: Time for us to come together, brainstorm, and create new strategies.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
