Product Manager

Cambridge, Massachusetts

About Us:

The wholesale distribution industry is ready for a revolution, and Proton is leading the charge. The world relies on distributors to sell nearly every physical product, but despite its massive contribution to the global economy, this industry has been left behind in terms of technology. Proton is changing that. With AI-powered sales software, we’re breaking through the complexity of selling millions of products and making it easier for distributors to anticipate customer needs. Our mission is to bring the distribution industry into the modern age and the results speak for themselves. Distributors using Proton see 10x ROI, faster new hire ramp-up, and happier sales teams.

In 2022, we raised a $20M Series A backed by Felicis Ventures (investors in Twitch, Shopify, Opendoor, and many others) and Battery Ventures. This year, we’re laser-focused on driving customer growth. If you’re excited about the opportunity to wear multiple hats, and continuously learn and experiment, now’s the time to join the Proton team.

The Role

2025 is set to be a huge year for Proton. We just wrapped up our best year yet in 2024, and now we’re going all in. Proton is looking for a Product Manager to join our fast-growing team. Reporting directly to our Head of Product, the Product Manager will lead a multi-functional AI squad.

The candidate has a unique combination of experience in building AI or data products and experience working intimately with core customers to discover, define, build, deploy high impact features and functionality. This person will also be equally excited in supporting early implementations as they are in being able to zoom out to incorporate market and customer feedback to iteratively improve the product over time.

We are looking to hire someone in the greater Boston area who is open to a hybrid schedule.

What you'll do

  • Work closely with customers to learn the domain and gain deep insights into their needs through onsite visits, shadowing sessions, and virtual discovery calls.
  • Align stakeholders on a clear AI squad vision, define initial AI feature iterations, and prioritize future enhancements in the roadmap.
  • Define and prioritize AI/ML features, breaking down complex problems into well-structured epics, features, and stories to ensure clarity, alignment, and high-quality execution throughout the SDLC while balancing customization with scalability.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and data science teams to build, test, and deploy models while ensuring the surrounding UX enables users to fully leverage and act on the insights.
  • Drive an agile approach by thinking big, delivering small, and continuously refining based on user feedback and performance data.
  • Aid in early implementation or enablement of new features with customer and internal stakeholders as required

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Product & Startup Experience – at least 3-5 years of product management experience managing features end-to-end through the SDLC. Working at an early-stage startup (Seed/Series A through B or C) is a plus.
  • Customer & Market Focus – Strong user-centric mindset, applying user-centered design principles and actively engaging stakeholders to gather insights and set direction.
  • Data-Driven & Adaptive Thinking – Ability to make data-driven decisions while embracing the uncertainty early-stage vertical B2B SaaS companies often face.
  • Technical & AI Collaboration – Prior experience working with data scientists to build and deploy AI/ML models at scale
  • Problem-Solving & Communication – Skilled at navigating complexity, distilling key issues, and clearly communicating insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Business Sense & Continuous Improvement Mindset – Strong business intuition, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for innovation, iteration, and AI excellence.

Benefits

  • Competitive Salaries + Company Stock Options - we want to pay you well (and equitably!) and make you feel like an owner.
  • Unlimited PTO + 10 Company Paid Holidays - we even have tools implemented to detect burnout to make sure folks recharge regularly.
  • 401k with Employer Contribution (US only, for now!) - we know work isn’t forever, so we contribute up to 3% of your salary to help you prepare whether you directly contribute or not.
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance - we cover one medical plan 100% in the USA and cover a premium plan 100% for international employees (for US- this includes a HSA!) and cover 50% for dependents on all our medical plan options.
  • 12 Weeks Fully Paid Parental Leave - that goes for primary and secondary caregivers; even if you’re adopting or fostering!
  • Company Paid off-sites - time for us to be together, brainstorm, and make magic happen

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
