New

Value Engineer

Cambridge, MA

About Us:

The wholesale distribution industry is ready for a revolution, and Proton is leading the charge. The world relies on distributors to sell nearly every physical product, but despite its massive contribution to the global economy, this industry has been left behind in terms of technology. Proton is changing that. With AI-powered sales software, we’re breaking through the complexity of selling millions of products and making it easier for distributors to anticipate customer needs. Our mission is to bring the distribution industry into the modern age and the results speak for themselves. Distributors using Proton see 10x ROI, faster new hire ramp-up, and happier sales teams.

In 2022, we raised a $20M Series A backed by Felicis Ventures (investors in Twitch, Shopify, Opendoor, and many others) and Battery Ventures. This year, we’re laser-focused on driving customer growth. If you’re excited about the opportunity to wear multiple hats, and continuously learn and experiment, now’s the time to join the Proton team.

The Role:

We’re looking for a Value Engineer to join our Customer Experience team. This is a new role designed to help our customers maximize their success with Proton by combining product knowledge, data storytelling, and solution design.

You’ll work closely with Customer Success Managers, Project Managers, and Client Engineering to define what success looks like for each customer—and ensure we’re building toward measurable impact at every step. From analyzing adoption trends to designing configuration playbooks, you’ll help scale how we deliver value across our post-sale motion.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop a library of value frameworks, metrics, and configuration playbooks by vertical and use case

  • Partner with CSMs and PMs to analyze customer adoption trends, share insights, and identify opportunities to close value gaps

  • Lead the design of tailored product configurations aligned to each customer’s workflows and goals

  • Build and maintain customer-facing dashboards (e.g., in Looker) that surface usage patterns and ROI

  • Create reusable tools and templates to support consistent value delivery across the CX team

  • Collaborate with Product and Client Engineering to align on customer needs and influence solution design

You'll be a great fit for this role if:

  • Have experience in a post-sale, solutioning, or technical consulting role in SaaS

  • Are comfortable analyzing customer data and turning insights into action

  • Can distill complexity into a clear narrative for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Are proactive, collaborative, and eager to build new ways of working

  • Bonus: you’ve worked with CRM workflows, B2B sales operations, or distribution businesses

Why Join Us:

You’ll be part of a high-performing, customer-obsessed team defining what great looks like in value delivery. We move fast, care deeply about our customers’ outcomes, and give people real ownership. If you like solving messy problems and building new playbooks, you’ll thrive here.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and stock options—we want you to feel like an owner

  • Unlimited PTO + 10 company holidays

  • 401k with 3% company contribution (regardless of whether you contribute)

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (100% coverage on one medical plan)

  • 12 weeks fully paid parental leave (for all parents, including adoptive/foster)
  • Annual company-paid offsites

  • Professional Growth Fund for learning opportunities

Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
