Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)
Job Summary
Prove is seeking a talented and passionate Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), who will be involved in all testing related activities for complex development changes - from creating comprehensive test plans to automating tests to investigating issues. In this role, you will work collaboratively with product managers, developers and other SDETs as an integral part of the development and testing processes. You will also support the design and implementation of processes and systems aimed at improving the overall quality of our authentication and identity platform for our customers. As an API-first company, we would love to talk to you if you have a strong API testing background!
Responsibilities
- Develop appropriate testing strategies for new software features in collaboration with engineering and product management, particularly for our API products
- Work with other SDETs across multiple teams to create, maintain, and improve automated frameworks and tests
- Execute automated and manual test cases, analyze test results, and report bugs
- Work closely with developers to reproduce, debug, and resolve issues
- Give your QA stamp of approval on development changes, ensuring that all criteria are met before release
- Continuously review test processes and provide insights on how to improve our test suites and continuous integration, as well as developing user scenarios
- Occasionally perform UI testing
- Work alongside a team of engineers and product managers, contributing to the team culture through your passion, creativity, and experience
- Be a champion for all things quality, acting as a voice of the customer
Experience
Every Prover brings something unique to the table. Here is what we are looking for in this role:
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of software testing and automation experience
- Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
- Ability to identify and create comprehensive test plans for complex backend and frontend changes
- Experience testing APIs, services, mobile phones, and data driven applications
- Solid knowledge of API testing fundamentals
- Proficiency in API testing and tools such as Postman and Ready API
- Experience creating automated tests with programming languages such as Java, Javascript, or Python
- Experienced in professional software engineering practices such as code reviews, testing, version control, and build processes
- Proficiency in using test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail)
- Excellent bug reporting, documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in an agile team environment
- Bachelors in Computer Science or other quantitative fields or relevant experience
Desirable Skills
- Working knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)
- Experience with performance testing
- Knowledge of modern security testing techniques
