A successful candidate will be equipped to create real-time VFX content using Niagara, Materials, and Blueprints and support the FX team’s tooling and infrastructure as a self-motivated and autonomous team player. The key to this role is understanding Fortnites' artistic needs and goals and how to support them with real-time VFX.

  • Execute outstanding effects for our games by bringing dramatic effects to life
  • Create all art needed for the visual effects; including FX concept, proto and final FX
  • Supply creative solutions given a set of technical constraints
  • Provide technical solutions that have a wider impact across the group
  • Support the core FX infrastructure of Fortnite and Rocket League

What we're looking for

  • An artist with technical capabilities that can make a broader impact across the group
  • A critical eye for timing and shape that can bring dramatic FX to life to support gameplay and the overall player experience
  • Understanding of artistic stylization, and how/when to apply those principles
  • Fluency in the pillars of Fortnite VFX - Niagara, Materials, and Blueprints (or similar frameworks)
  • A working understanding of graphics math and how to use it (and the ability/desire to learn more)
  • A working understanding of simulation systems (particles, grid methods)
  • Experience constructing modular components reused across a larger graphics framework
  • Ability to quickly understand existing systems in order to make improvements/upgrades/repairs on a live, shipped product
  • Experience with optimization for multiple platform targets, and experience in secondary disciplines such as modeling, skinning, animation, or lighting
  • Scripting/UI construction experience in Python, QT, Blueprints, etc and experience with procedural systems (e.g. Houdini)
