Production Artist (Contractor)

What is this role about:  

The Production Artist is responsible for creating and editing graphics and images for a variety of both digital print-media, including product packaging and marketing materials. The Production Artist must be able to meet tight deadlines and can multitask on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of relevant software is necessary, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. We are looking for someone with strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Senior Production Artist and Creative Services Project Manager to discuss packaging specifications

Work within brand standards and guidelines

Ensure package designs accurately represent the company’s brand and ethos

Collaborate with graphic designers and copywriters to finalize packaging text and graphics

Complete final mock-up designs using Adobe Photoshop

Prepare final files for print and digital production

Demonstrate the ability to execute responsibilities and remain organized under tight deadlines

Prepare proofs for approval

Assist in project by supporting cross functional teams' needs

Assist in finding efficiencies for the department

Stay current on graphic trends

 

Qualifications:

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in fine art, digital media, graphic design, or a similar field.

Keen attention to detail

In-depth knowledge in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

Must be able to demonstrate complete high-level knowledge of clipping masks, layers, using multiple color swatch palettes, hand-drawing with the pen tool

Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated drive for perfection

Thrives working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment

Strong typesetting, layout, photo editing, and color editing skills

Proficiency using design tools like Adobe Creative Cloud

Strong time management and organizational skills

Natural talent for design and a keen eye for detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus points if you have:

Experience working as a packaging designer

Familiarity with various packaging materials.

 

Compensation:

This is a contractor role. This role is hybrid and requires approximately 2 days per week in our office in DTLA. The compensation range for this role is $25.00/hr - $28.00/hr.
