A university hospital based in Sussex, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant Haematologist to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the high standards of care being provided their patients.

Salary: £99,532 - £131,964 per annum

Salary Period: Yearly

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide expert clinical care in haematology, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with haematological disorders.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
  • Engage in clinical governance activities, including audit, quality improvement, and research.
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and contribute to their training and development.
  • Participate in the on-call rota for haematology services.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Postgraduate qualification or appropriate specialist qualification.
  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice.
  • CCT in Specialty or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC).
  • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC.

A medium-sized District General Hospital located in Sussex. Known for its commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services. The hospital has over 400 beds, including six ITU beds, a high dependency unit, and a maternity unit.

Haematology Department

The Haematology Department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and provides comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of haematological conditions. The department is involved in both clinical and laboratory haematology, offering diagnostic and therapeutic services.

Typical Job Plan

  • Clinical Duties:5 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week, including outpatient clinics, ward rounds, and laboratory work.
  • Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs):5 PAs per week, including teaching, research, and clinical governance activities.
  • On-Call Commitment: Participation in the on-call rota for haematology services.
