Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £24.00–£26.50 per hour
Contract Duration: 3 months (with the option to extend)

Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the acute team at West Middlesex University Hospital. This role is ideal for a dysphagia-competent SLT who is confident working autonomously within a fast-paced acute hospital environment.
You will be primarily based on the acute wards, providing specialist assessment and rehabilitation for adults with swallowing and communication difficulties. There may also be opportunities to support cross-cover on the stroke unit, offering further variety and clinical exposure. This is an excellent opportunity for an SLT looking to broaden or consolidate their acute experience within a supportive NHS setting.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Provide autonomous assessment and management of adult patients with dysphagia within acute wards.
• Deliver dysphagia rehabilitation and contribute to communication assessment and intervention as required.
• Manage and prioritise an acute caseload effectively, responding to urgent referrals.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support patient care and discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with Trust and professional standards.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Proven experience working within an adult acute or hospital-based SLT service.
• Dysphagia competency and the ability to work independently within an acute caseload.
• Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and organisational skills.
Desirable criteria:
• Videofluoroscopy competency.
• Tracheostomy competency.
