Start Date: ASAP (Maternity cover role available starting September 2026)
Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time


Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a specialist paediatric setting in Southampton. This role is based at a mixed 7–19 SEN day school, supporting children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs.

The school primarily supports able learners and provides a nurturing environment with small class sizes and an established multidisciplinary team, including two SALTs and Occupational Therapists.

This opportunity is open to newly qualified candidates as well as more experienced therapists. You will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ communication, social, emotional, and mental health development, helping them achieve their full potential.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assess, diagnose, and support pupils with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) and ASC-related needs.
  • Deliver individualised therapy plans in collaboration with teaching and clinical teams.
  • Contribute to the development of pupils’ social, emotional, and mental health skills.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional standards.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to support pupil progress and attend regular reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • A genuine interest in working with children with ASC and SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and reflective approach to professional development.
