The setting supports approximately 20 learners across two classrooms, with a strong focus on independence, life skills, and preparation for adulthood. - Design and implement individualised therapy programmes tailored to each learner’s needs.
- Provide guidance and training to staff to support the delivery of communication strategies and targets.
- Support students with a range of needs, including neurodiversity, DLD, ASC, and complex communication difficulties.
- Contribute to the development of strategies to support emotional regulation, social communication, and independence.
- Support learners in developing functional communication skills for daily living, including community access and work placements.
- Work collaboratively with education staff and external partners to support successful outcomes, including workplace communication needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility) with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Experience working with young people or adults with a range of communication needs, including ASC and DLD.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex or pre-verbal communication profiles.
- Strong understanding of functional communication, independence, and life skills development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support staff.
